Anyone ever have any issues with the Scion license plate frames? (the ones the dealer sells)

I've now gone through 2 of the matte silver ones. The finish has bubbled and peeled on both.

Obviously, I'm done with that finish. I was wondering if anyone has had a similar issue with the chrome finish?

I have one of the chrome with black letters and the black on the letters peeled off rather fast. I repainted them in silver and they peeled again (I didn't bother sanding them though). I might redo it properly this summer.
