Scion tC Kaminari CF Roof!?!?
im waiting to hear about the install of this product. I emailed them directly but the webpage states that they are closed on the weekend (and maybe this monday). If they email me back next week I will glady post what they write. I asked for any details that they could give.
If any of you guys actually are going to buy and install the roof I will consider sending some pics of how we did it and the reasons why.
As I have stated before, if they have not changed the design be prepared for some very serious work and ingenuity to make this fit. It is far from a bolt on unit.
Hint #1, the version I recieved and was used on the GP cars requires removing the front two pieces of glass and busting out the rear glass and then using the factory frame to glue the new roof to, you will have so seal everything up as well and a fair amount of triming on the new unit, this will still take quite a bit of effort and commitment to not go back to stock.
Hint #2, you will have black holes in the headliner where the shades used to be, more work to accomplish to trim things up to look good.
#3, not sure how much weight will be saved with this method but not as much as wel did;)

On our car we wanted to go futher with the project thus sold the entire stock roof and made our own mounting brackets to attach the unit to the stock mounting locations of the origianal frame.
This require glueing brakets to the perimeter which takes a bit of effort to line up correctly.
Alot of trimming was required on the unit, maybe more than the original install plan for the way it was built.
Sealing is very critical of course, doing the install thier way is probably easier.

From day one of recieving our roof I have asked the guys there to make a bolt in roof and maybe they finally have, I hope so for your sake!

Not trying to discourage anybody, I just want to let you know if your roof comes in like ours did, be prepared for a major project and you need some decent tools and a fair amount of custom fabrication work experience or you may regret your decision to do this. I will help with more quidance but be advised, I am working 12-14 hour or more, 7 days a week on my business and am moving the end of July so I only have so much time I can spend helping you out, glad to do so if I can though

I haven't checked the SCCA rule book but would the class penalty be comparable to that of the CF hood?
Not that I want to rid myself of the sunroof but I'm curious if this roof would pit me against cars and drivers that I really don't want to drive against.

im interested in what they have to say in the reply email. hopefully they dont say that they dont have the details because if they didnt have the bare minimum thoughts together they shouldnt post about it.
if i wasnt at the dealer 7 times because of the rattle - then maybe I wouldnt care. but this looks like a mod im going to want to do ...plus its a performance part. Sounds good to me depending on the install.
In SCCA autocross the roof would put you in Street Mod class, very tough class for a tC to be in considering the highly modded STI, EVO, M3 and super lite weight Civics that dominate the class.
I know the SM classs rules inside out, we are doing everything we can to be as competitive in an outguned class and we will beat most all of them
