Scion tC Kaminari CF Roof!?!?
46 lbs is a huge savings off the top of the car, the leverage it had over the suspension was several times that amount at least. It had negative impact on accel, braking and turning, especially when going quickly from left to right and back, etc.
The resulting improvement was far more than I can explain here, well beyond what I imagined it would be.
The stock roof weighed around 63lbs, I forget the exact number right now.
If the CF roof was installed the way it was done on the TRD cars the savings would be alot less. We spent a great deal of time coming up with and implementing an install method to be as lite yet secure as possible.
This is the second most important mod we have done, tires being the first and we have made dozens of mods and spent hundreds of hours on the car.

Its funny I talked to one of the reps there on my lunch break. I wanted to know if it came with any instructions or how to's. He said he only had one guy up in Oregon put it in and wasn't sure. I said oh, you mean Rick from Raamaudio? He said yeah, you're best bet is to get in touch with with him about how to install it. He basically said you bolted it down a special way and then used a bute (sp?) type adhesive, the kind used to seal down windshields. I then spoke with Mandy, and she said that even with the cf shortage they would only need about 11 business days to get one out the door, since someone order the only one they had in stock last week. In the meantime she has a fiberglass one that is black gel coated on top and has cf/kevlar on the bottom. I'm seriously considering going with that, though she couldn't give me the weight on the latter. Anyhow, I'm wondering if now is the time to do it before cf prices rise any higher the way oil keeps going up.
Now Rick, did you get rid of all the motors/mechanisms and what have you up on the roof when you replaced it? I'm wondering with the motor gone if there is more room up there to mount some guages.

MountScion1 try to find out more about the fiberglass roof - i really dont care at all what i use but i want this damn creaking noise out of my roof. I would like as much info as possible. If anybody knows what the fiberglass roof is like let me know. Also - i would assume it would be less $$ then the cf
Yeah its on their site Kaminiari's site.
BODY PARTS FOR RACE CARS-FOR OFF ROAD USE ONLY-NOT STREET LEGAL
K060660 Fiberglass Roof $695.00
KO60660FC Carbon Fiber Roof $995.00 save about 46 lbs.
This replaces the factory 3 piece glass roof panels
Recommend Professional Installation and consult factory service manual.
So again, it was explained to me that the fiberglass roof, comes with a black gel coating on the top side and is kevlar/cf'ed on the bottom. Shipping to a residential address here in MA was about $165, and you're on the east coast so I'm sure it'd be similar.
The fiberglass one I was told could ship today, the cf one would take about two weeks or 11 business days, something like that. Anyhow.......from what Rick says you're going to need a lot of downtime to actually manage to put this in. So even if I got this ASAP, it'd be awhile before I could be without a car long enough to put this in.
Does anyone have one of the spec tc's? the one's that have a fixed glass roof? I wonder if they have the same problems?
so yeah hope that was a little more informative.

Thats the thing - i wonder where I would go in NJ that could install such a product. By the few people that I have talked to - this is not going to be a two second thing. I hate my sunroof so much that I dont even open it anymore.

I guess this is a good mod if you have alot of money to blow, don't like your sunroof and you want the car to handle better.
If only they made cf replacements for each individual glass panel, and leave the roof functional. I do like to use my sunroof in warm summer nights, but never ever use during the day while the sun is beating down.
hmmmm...... thats actually not a bad idea......that'd actually be pretty badass....... a non glass sunroof, that saves a little weight.... thats definitely not common....hmmmm, pitch that to Kaminari.......

maybe it was a custom piece they did, cause it doesn't appear to be on sale yet on their website- just the one piece replacement roof...... I hope they do sell it though, that'd be a nice combination
does anyone here study this thread
