Default Spec keyhole swap possible?

Since the spec package comes without keyholes in the doors, is it possible to swap that piece of the doorhandle over to a regular tC to get rid of the keyhole?

Also now that I think about it, how do you unlock a Spec if the battery is dead?

it should be possible. my good friend has a 4 door 2006 tacoma and the handles are very similar, if not the same as the tC. anyhow, he purchased one of the rear drivers side handles and put it up front drivers side door. cleaned it up dramatically.

yup, but if you can get the piece that has no keyhole and flip it upside down, it can probably be used on the drivers side.... rather than replacing the whole handle.

well... maybe... could look into how that part is installed...

however, answering the question of how to get into a spec car if the battery's dead..

you unlock it from the driver's side.

and yes.. if you decide to do both and your battery's dead on the remote... and/or the fuse or battery is dead on the car... you're completely SCREWED.

You could just get these. Seems cheaper and you don't have to worry about not being able to get into your car:

I already ordered the plugs, :D

I didn't realize the keyhole was only missing on the passenger side, kinda nixes that idea.

If you take a look at the new Lexus automobiles they have the keyhole covered on the driver’s side. If your battery goes dead then it’s just a simply matter of using a flat head screwdriver and propping up the tab underneath and the plastic assembly pops up.
I have a feeling Toyota will incorporated this in all of their new cars but for now they put this on their flagship cars first.
