SPOILER OBSESSION
You probably don't need one unless you drive at speeds higher than 100-120 mph and have lots of other go-fast mods.
They still look cool, though!
Personally, I think an aggresive spoiler on the tC would make it look like a 911, which would be sexy.

what is with spoilers on moderately powered FWD cars...i mean yea a lip spoiler can add to the lines of your car...alittle...personally id rather have never gotten mine...and the pedestal spoiler? give me a brek...just dont look right at all...the trunk isnt large enough for such a rediculous spoiler...besides...doesnt a spoiler just give u extra rear drag...which on a FWD moderately powered car would probably do more harm then good...id much rather get a front diffuser to plant my front end down rather then a huge painted piece of plastic drilled into my hatch....what do you guys think? because im sick of all the topics that deal with spoilers...because theyre all ugly as well as unnecessary
-s
you can read it cant ya? im from jersey we dont use grammer dude...just speakin my mind because the drag coefficient forum is littered with "how does this spoiler look?" blah blah blah...i got the lip...its alright...but i think anything bigger would be redonkulous...and the car looks much cleaner without one...

People can put 5 foot wide aluminum park benches on their cars for all I care. It's their car, to ruin as they please.
What does irk me is everyone using "spoiler" as a cover-all term for any aerodynamic device placed at the rear of a car.
If it extends the line of the car without interruption, it is a spoiler. If there is any space between the body of the vehicle and the aerodynamic member, it is a wing. F1 cars have wings. Dragsters have wings. NASCARs have spoilers.
As to effectiveness, a front spoiler, commonly called a "lip" will have greater effect than a rear mounted one, as it is in open, uninterrupted air, and can prevent lifting air from flowing under the chassis.
The wings seen on production cars serve no purpose outside of cosmetics, until you get into the exotics, where active, variable angle wings are sometimes employed-- and generally for other purposes, like the cooler on the Porsche 911.

Buuuuuuurn!
<sarcasm> Yeah! the tC pedistal spoiler sucks! Who would ever want a with one of those. </sarcasm>

<serious> Slamming someones taste because it is different from your own wont make you many friends.</serious>
I personally wanted a more aggressive profile on MY tC. Most people that know don't really care that the pedistal spoiler doesn't do anything for performance. Now that I think about it, The body kit is heavy too. But you know what, I think it looks good.
Some people don't drive a tC with the intention of making it the fastest car around. Even if the pedistal spoiler adds any significant drag (which I seriously doubt). You would never notice the difference anyways because of the amount of hp/tqe you need to add to the car to make the tC "fast".
You don't have to like spoilers. If adding a spoiler to your car is not your cup of tea then don't do it (it won't make you happy). On the other hand, if you are thinking about getting one, go to the dealer and see one in person. It was the pedistal on the BCP that convinced me that I wanted one on my IIP.
BTW, Don't take other people's opinion on what will make YOU happy. Make the decision for yourself. If you like the look of the spoiler on the tC don't let other people convince you it is no good. There are always people who think it looks great.

Getting negative feedback on anything regarding my cars just doesn't faze me anymore, cuz everyone's tastes are different, and 'mine' is what matters

Scott aka Mouse
look at the trd wheels on that thing...gorgeous...and another point would be that if you have a lip kit, a spoiler seems more justified...but dem rims damn
post script - i call it a spoiler cuz it spoils...ask my friend daniel bernoulli

I have a pedestal spoiler and think it looks cool, as well as all my friends. IMO it just adds to the looks of the car.
ha, this just reminded me of the movie Road Trip, where the one guy says, "Because its YOUR dog!!"
YES! it is YOUR car. Make it what YOU want it to be.
I got the pedestal spoiler on mine, I think it really makes the car. I know it doesn't do anything for the perforamce, prolly slows it down with drag, but it does add to the lines a LOT! it really gives the backend something to live for other than just being too short to look right on the car.
