Taillight harness tyc->oem
Hey guys, I have the LED tyc's on my 07 tc and I want to convert back to the OEM style taillights. I bought the car used from a guy who had the tyc'c on his car and the tyc's arent my type of style. I understand that there are LED taillights out there that you buy and will come with a conversion harness to the stock harness.
Basically my question is that since I have the led tyc's will I need a harness for the OEM taillights if I were to buy the OEM taillights alone? Or did the factory installed tyc's come with a harness that I will need to remove before I can use the OEM ones?

TYC and OEM use the same "plug connector" but as for the entire harness in the tails, it is totally diiferent as tyc's are LED based. usually you can find OEM tails with the harness included.

Thanks for all the replies guys. Im still a scion noob so I have another question.
Here is the pic of the taillights that the seller sent me.
We are doing it locally so I can check it out when I buy it. From what you guys can see is there anything that is missing from the tail light in the pic before I buy it? Like is the harness/connectors/assembly complete? Is there suppose to be any rubber molding on the taillight to prevent water from leaking suppose to be there?
Sorry the pic is crappy, he sent it via cellphone, bear with me.

^^Looks like everything is ok to me. You use the stock OEM harnesses (if they are indeed TYC tails).
There is no rubber molding. The TYCs are like the OEM tails; They kind of 'pop' in with the use of clips.
I've had my TYCs going on over 3 years now and I haven't had any issues with water damage.
P.S. If you do get them, take off the rear bumper when installing. It makes the process easier and
only takes less than 10 mins to remove.
*EDIT* I don't exactly remember what the back of the TYCs look like. I've kind of forgotten over the years.

hmmmm i wish the pic was better but i have an 06 and my tails look a little different. i have a white connector that snaps into the wire connector in the car. i dunno if that made sense but yeah i just dont see the white connector in that pic but then it is really small

the harness that is in TYC is different then the OEM one. TYC uses LEDs for the lights and breakes so the harness is different and will not work. you will need to find a wire harness for those tails as the seller did not supply you with it.

Damn, thanks guys for the replies. And scionjim you were right, I went to check out the taillights the other day and there was no harness connected to the taillights at all. So there were no white connector that supposed to attach to the harness on the tc. Plus, the damn seller was telling me how LEDs harness would have worked on the OEMs. I knew it was bullsh*t.
Thanks for the heads up, I would of bought them thinking the LEDs harness would work.
now Im off to search for other OEMs around my area...

As you can tell from my pix, the one in the pic above has no harnesses attached to it. That to me is a clear
indication that the seller tried to possibly mod them. In a case like that, I would stay away from that seller's tails.
Who knows. He could be a good guy just trying to get rid of them. I still wouldn't take that chance because
once that sale is final and something bad possibly does happen, you're screwed.

And yea, when I went to go take a look at it he was saying how he had LEDs and he just switch out the harness to the bulbs and it worked perfectly. Once he said that, I knew I didnt want the lights because that was just some total bullsh*t.

And if you like Capt. & Coke, try Capt. & Root beer!! (If you like root beer.)
You can barely taste the rum when it's mixed with the root beer. :D
