Default tC break pads? which ones should i get?

I think its time to change my breaks (in 2 months i will) .... what pads should I get and how hard are they to install? I clicked on the tech section of scionlife and i couldnt pick the break part because when i clicked on it - nothing happened. Anyway - can I have a few products and webpage links with the best prices? I am looking for a higher performance pad but do not want any type of noise when breaking (that is very important). please help

It's super easy and AXXIS Metalmaster or Ultimates are great pads that are better than OEM

Brake pad choice is kind of dependant on what you are looking for. If you want a lot of bite than the Axxis Ultimate is a good choice, but is on the dusty side. For low dust, but still good performance than the Hawk HPS is a good choice, but is not as aggressive as the Ultimate. If you dont really need a lot of performance and want no dust, than the Deluxe Plus is a good choice too. Its also very inexpensive which may be an issue.

For more info on pads and what the different compounds offer you can visit our website here: http://www.stoptech.com/products/hig...nce_pads.shtml

the problem im having is - i dont know how much/little performance I have compared to the stock pads. I am looking for a bit more performance then the stock pads but then on the other hand I dont want my rims black (meaning I dont want more dust then the stock pads). ....do you think you can help me more now w/ the pad that I need?

It sounds like deluxe plus or Hawk HPS would be best then. Either will outperform stock with little dust. If cost is any issue than go with the Deluxe plus. The HPS will perform better but costs more than the Deluxe Plus or the Ultimates.

I was going to change my brake soon as well. Will I need to replace the rotors as well? My brother took his tC into a brake shop when he did his and they replaced everything.

It really depends on their wear, but I doubt they will need replacement. You should be fine with some new pads and a bed in procedure to heat cycle the new pads and lay down a transfer layer of the new pad material onto the rotor face.

Bed in detail here: http://www.stoptech.com/tech_info/wp_bedinstock.shtml

If you are looking to change your rotors and pads, you may want to look into a Stage 2 kit that has lines, pads, rotors and fluid for all 4 corners. Everyhting is the stock size so it works with the stock calipers and wont cause any clearance issues. The rotors are avialable in slotted or drilled. Cool thanks for the info! What would you suggest? I have about 25,000 mile on my car. Stock rotors but I have never autocrossed nor plan to. I just want my brakes to feel at least stock again. I have noticed latley that they are fading
away. Do you think stage 1 kit or stage 2?

Your rotors are likely ok, so if cost is an issue then just go Stage 1. The rotors wont offer much difference in "feel" compared to ehat the pads and lines will offer. The Axxis Ultimate pads in the kit will make the most dramatic difference since they are increasing bite over the stock pads. The lines will help to improve pedal feel and make the brake system more responsive since you are removing flex from the system. The slotted or drilled rotors will add some bite but not enough that you will likely notice. Almost more of a benefit than the slots or drills is the appearance of the rotors which will look nicer than stock with the machining, plus the hub and vane areas are painted black so there wont be any surface rust on the unswept surfaces.

Do you guys offer just the rotors? So maybe I could do the stage 1 now and possibly upgrade the rotors later?

Sure do. The kits are sold at a reduced price though.

i dont think there is anyway you could need new rotors on a car that is 25,000 and under. I am just thinking about switching out my break pads and have 18k miles on my car. Those red calipers look sweet but I think its best to just upgrade when needed instead of too fast when the car is too new.
