Default for those of you with LEDs in your grilles...

Hey everyone,

I just ordered some LEDs for my engine bay and upper/lower grill from Oznium. My question - where did you guys mount the LEDs to light up the grills? It looks like I can place one of the LEDs on the little lip immediately below the upper grill and face it upwards, although I am not sure this will provide solid lighting. The lower grill - I am much less sure about, there is a spot on the splashguard, I guess, that could hold it, but not sure if that would actually show the bulbs through the grill. This is for an '06 tC.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, I am hoping to get these delivered and installed this coming weekend.

Thanks!

for the bottom mount it under the crash bar with double sided tape, as for the top i did the same or i think i zip-tied them to the wires that are ran across the bar but i used cold cathodes instead.

I used the Oznium LEDs to light up my grill. For the top I used epoxy to glue the LEDs to that upper metal piece that is on the upper the grill. For the lower grill I used epoxy to glue the lights to the metal crash bar. Both light strips are facing down. Lights up the grills perfectly. Hope that helps

This might be a really really dumb question so please forgive me - but the crash bar, is that the bar through the center of the front between the two grills? The bar that has all the wiring already on it below the upper grill?

Thanks!

The best way to descride the bar is the metal piece that has the styrofoam piece attached to it. The bar runs the entire length of the front of car.

yeah that is what I figured - I am going to hopefully get these installed this coming weekend.

In a related topic - any suggestions for mounting LEDs in the engine bay? I ordered 2 19" flex-strips for the engine bay also. Just wondering what other people have done/suggest!

To light up the engine bay you can mount them on the sides of the fenders facing down withthe sticky tape that comes withhtem......hard to get in there but it lightsup well.......also you can takeout the rear piece on the firewall, the one held in withthe two white push on clips and mount one there facing down or forward,or even drill out matching holes tot he leds and install it behind the piece, that is waht I did......pain to do but works well.

Also the radiator is a good place to mount them,it is in plain view but works well....i think there are pictures of mine lit up in my profile.

To light up the grilles mount them to the crash bar and light them so you canot see the actual lights as it looks bad at night if you can see the lights, you just want to see the glow from them.

I used to 19" LED strips from Oz on my grill. I used the double stick tape that's included. The upper grill I stuck it on the plastic just above the grill, so it's out of sight and the light glows downward. As for the lower grill, I stuck the LED strip under the metal part that holds the styrofoam "bumber" piece together. If that makes any sense?? This way none of the LED's are visible when you look at the car and the lighting effect works great.

You can see the lighting effect on my profile pics.

Good luck with yours!

Hey - thanks for the info. Yeah I have gotten the same suggestion from almost everyone about the lower grill. I guess I will play around with the upper grill lighting and see which works best - where you put yours or the top side of the crash bar.

Looks good on your tC tho!
Thanks!

All Oznium products. Round and straight modules, 1 watt floods, SMD bars for the grille (two on top, and two on the bottom),Beefy strips. Basically I have them spread out thru the engine bay. All modules are hidden in the lip of the fender wells. Floods are place low in the bay hidden under wires, boxes, etc. so you can't see them. The whole light system is hooked up to a remote, so I can choose what color I want to show
