Default Wind Deflector Rattle fix TSB

I got access to a school computer in autoshop and looked up info for the annoying rattle in my sunroof that everyone is having. This is what i could copy and paste, sorry that i couldnt provide the pix that came with the service bulliten, but at least you know scion has a solution for the problem.

Title:
WIND DEFLECTOR RATTLE

Models:
'05 Scion tC

Introduction

Some customers may experience a rattle noise from the moon roof wind deflector pivot points. A new spacer has been designed to help reduce this condition in that area.

JTKDE177159936999

I cant post the images to the installation and the charts but i will provide u with the part number.
67546-21010 for the E-ring qty 2
63239-21030 for the spacer qty 2

Warranty Information

Applicable Warranty:

This repair is covered under the Toyota Comprehensive Warranty. This warranty is in effect for 36 months or 36,000 miles, whichever occurs first, from the vehicle's in-service date.

* Warranty application is limited to correction of a problem based upon a customer's specific complaint.

Repair Procedure

NOTE: Perform the Repair Procedure on both the LH and RH side.

1. Fully open the moon roof to access the wind deflector lift arm pivot points.

2. Using a small flat head screwdriver or pick, remove the E-ring from the pivot pin.

3. Slide the pivot pin out.

4. Install the spacer between the lift arm and the wind deflector bracket.

5. Apply body grease to the pivot pin and reinstall using the NEW E-ring.

Interesting. Guess it doesn't affect my '06, but it seems my headliner rattles like crazy, worst thing about the car thus far.

Any word on the 07's? Mine has the most annoying noise coming from it, it almost sounds like the glass is cracking when it is in the barely open position, where no light is coming in from up above. Like nodsetse said, it is the only thing "wrong" with my car, albeit only 3 months old.

i read about the 07 cracking noise in the sunroof when driving on rough roads. It was sontin about the over torqued bolts when the body is flexing. Um I'll get the TSB on thursday and post it about that cracking noise issue.

That sounds more like a description of the issue my '06 has. While it sounds like headliner, it could certainly be the sunroof or a combination of both. I'll watch for your post of that tsb.
