I haven't taken any pics since I had the 18% changed to 50%. But I can tell you that it doesn't look much darker than stock. You can see a bit of a difference, but it is still easy to see inside the car from the outside (which is what keeps the cops happy). The good thing is that 50% tint up front is much better than stock glass when it comes to heat reduction and reducing glare.

 

i was thinking about getting that just for my front...or maybe 40. not sure...i wanted to get something but just like CA, any tint in the front is illegal. 35 in the back.

i was gonna go do it tomorrow but im still so undecided ha.

 

Well I used to be really dark, but I got so much po-po attention. The way I see it now, 50% is a little bit too light but 35% is definitely too dark for the CA cops. I think something like 42% would be ideal if it existed, but my tint place only had 70%, 50%, 35%, 18%, 8% -- so I chose the fifty. I still have the 18% around the back three windows, and that kinda creates the effect of the fronts looking darker than they really are. The windshield is also 50% now, and the sunroof is 18%, so it all helps to keep the inside darker and cooler.

the rear window isnt done yet because I keep messing up. Tinting is hard lol. I did the back two windows on my first try with only a few slight imperfections and decided to leave it, but the rear and front windows came out terrible. I got the front windows on my second try because I took off the door pannels and weatherstripping which made it 100x easier but I messed up the rear again, its a real b*tch lol. I'm gonna give it a third try next weekend, wish me luck :-)

Well after trying the rear 8 times, I'm taking it to the pros on saturday. The shop told me they will walk me through the process as they do it so next time I can hopefully do the whole car myself. I'm happy I atleast was sucessful with the sides. I'll have pics on sat hopefully but I was wondering how you guys feel about the windsheild strip. I have a precut strip, I just dont know if it will look good with it...

What steps did you take when removing the tint on the back window?

 

I have 20% on back, sides, and front window strip at the top.

Im trying to get an idea for a tint on the windshield, any pictures? I came up with an idea of getting 5-10% all around, just debating on the windshield..any pictures to help would be appreciated. :D :D

 

5% on the windshield would be hard to see out of at night, I had 5% on my back window of my old car and it was hard to see to back up.

 

Haha yeah, I would imagine. I wouldn't go with 5% on the windshield..thats like asking to be ticketed. I was thinking maybe 35%? Just wanted to see examples. -- I may go with 10% all around then, it's just 15% seemed too light for me.

 

Yea I wish I didn't live in VA because i would get 5% all the way around except for the windshield. I have already been pulled over 2 times for my 20%. It would defiantly look good though have every window tinted in like 10% or 15%!
