'08 tC, 94K miles, original battery. probably needs new battery soon but accessories turn on fine. jumping doesn't help. crank the ignition and get a loud buzzing noise, seems to be the starter. is starter replacement the only fix here? or is there a simple fix like a solenoid or relay?

i tapped on the relay in the fusebox (this works on nissans when relay is going bad) but no change. seems the signal is reaching the starter to make the noise. tightened the battery terminals and cleaned off a little residue (did not remove terminals yet to clean thoroughly, will that help?).

anything i'm missing here? or just replace the starter and battery?
