Jotech did alot more than just engine guard. They also resleeved the cylinders and used forged pistons and rods upping the displacement to 2.5L (plus a few other things that just aren't coming to mind.

I thought those guys destroked the motor? At one point they were cutting the dynos off at 8k rpms. I didn't know a stroked motor, from a motor with an already long stroke, could rev so high without blowin up.

They sleeved the motor. If they sleeved it, there's no block gaurd needed. Unless everyones talking about a sheild that's usually placed over a tranny if it's at risk of exploding from high hp applications.

its taken a min to soak all of that up.... one question comes to mind for me since i have an auto. How bout the strength of the auto tranny these motors are paired with? If the tranny cant hold the HP, wouldnt make much difference, to someone in my shoes, what the motor is capable of withstanding.

I know that they did sleeve it. I read it somewhere on their site I think it was.

As for the tC running 12s. ScionSpeed has already run a flat 12 second 1/4mile with their stage 2. That's all bolt ons and only upgraded tires (still street though). Props to them. ZPI did the same. I think their kits are all bolt ons also.
