Default 2AZ-FE Swap Tc Swap

Long story short I hydrolocked my engine and bent a valve. I was driving on this for about 2 months putting it off. Well the Valve Dropped and the engine is done.
I know this is a rokkie question but Ive been searching for hours and i can not find the answers I'm looking for.
I've got an 06 Tc I called the junk yard they have a 07 Tc Engine for 1500 but the guy told me its not interchangeable. I know the engines are pretty much the same other than the internals and timing covers from what i have read.

So the real question is can I drop in a 07 or newer 2AZ-Fe without to much trouble. I found someone saying you need the engine harness to go with the newer engines but i cant see why.

This is my daily and i need a way to get to work.

Sorry if this has already been covered like i said i searched and couldnt find a stright answer.

I just found a 04 Camry Solara 2AZFE Engine for 975 Shipped. That should be a straight drop in right?

off the top of my head the differences from 05-06 to 07-10;
higher compression, intake cam is different, different redline, piston oil squirters, the MAF is different, the exhaust manifold is different but those are interchangeable, the drive belt is different with a different routing but all the same accessories, the pulleys are just rearranged. you'd need new harness/ecu for the changed sensors and maybe changes to the tune for the adjusted cam profile/redline?

It seems like if you're able to keep all of your 05-06 sensors, your 05-06 timing chain cover and swap them onto the 07-10 motor, you would be good to go. I don't have first hand experience with this though.

I don't know if the solara motor would drop in or not.

Well it's a Camry Solara with a 2AZ-Fe engine. The price is a lot better than anything I've found. It seems logical to be able to drop in any 2az-fe engine if you just keep all of original sensors and keep the same ECU and harness. Also if the Solara engine is 04 to 06 then it should be pretty much the same engine correct because after 06 that's when the engines started to change? This seems like it should be a common swap I'm not sure why I can't find more info on this. I just don't want to drop the cash for a engine and I end up with a very big paper weight.

Does anybody have any more info on this? I need to get my car back on the road but not sure what I should do. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It's never really easy to tell which ones are compatible, but generally I've had good luck using car-part.com

I ran a search in your city and got this: Search Results

Looks like certain year Rav4 engines are compatible.

Dang maybe I should just spend the extra cash and get the engine for the correct year. It just seems to me you would be able to drop in any 2azfe if you take all the senses manifolds off of the other engine. I just can't find good info on this.

Yea, it's tough. Maybe you can ask Dezod Motorsports. They've built numerous 2AZs and may know which ones are compatible.

From everything I've read...05-06 are the same and 07-10 are the same. If an engine from one group is used on a car from the other group, you will also need the computer

When its time to put another engine in my TC, I'll be going with a used low mileage 07-10
