Default 6 speed

I hear a lot of talk about wishing the tC came with or was optional with a 6spd etc. ... is it possible? What about the XRS tranny or the Celica GTS tranny? Would any of these line-up with limited modifications?

Does anyone know of any 6spd tCs?

Agreed. But let me add in realistically then.

what's the point?
tc has a limiter of around 124...unless you're going over 100 all the time you shouldn't be above 4k even in 5th.

i think the tC needs a 6th gear...the way 5th feels, it seems like it needs a 6th gear...

uhh no, from a dig my tc took an si all the way in a 1/4 mile, but cruisin down the street already sittin in 3rd drags butt, so thats my point, and i dont like suicide downshifting to second prolly floating valves and messing up other drivetrain parts. 6 gears would be more evenly geared and give you that extra edge on street racing, im not concerned about top speed

thats how a 5th gear in any 5 speed feels. it revs higher on the highway then that means every car needs a 6 speed. if the tc had like 180hp then id say 6 speed but scion/toyota is thinking practical and sayin 163hp 5spd is sufficiant. for what the car is its quick. an rsx and a civic si are in the 200hp (not whp) and rev much much higher so a 6 speed is not question. the rsx none type s has a 5 cuz the lack in power and rev point blank. like i said 20hp more out of the box then a 6spd could be argued but now its not even a thought. just like the LSD that was added prolly because of the people that were boosting and scion started to see that

doing a 6speed conversion is just not feasible from what ive heard... yes it's POSSIBLE but not even worth it.

sure i would love a 6th gear to keep from being at 4k doing 80 in 5th but there's just no easy or cheap way around it (cept driving slower)

this has been discussed before. there are not 6 speed trannys for the tc, yes it COULD be done, but for how much?

there probably isn't going to be one so if you want a 6th gear, get another car.

If a 6-speed were feasible for our cars, someone would have made the swap by now. Hell, there's a V6 swap for our car... but there is no known 6-speed swap.

Also, street racing is dumb.

we have something the honda doesnt...its torque. hence us getting out of a dig faster. BUT once we get higher speeds we dont go anywhere no matter what gear you are in.

Well what about a swap with the camry v-6 and it's 6-speed auto?

that'd probably be your best bet right? A pain in the **** though....Might as well have bought a diffferent car if you want a 6-speed...too much trouble for one more gear.

well considering that in 5th gear (manual) when im at 65-75 im also crusin at 3000-4000 rpm which i think is way too high, if we had a 6th gear that could knock that down to about 2000-3000 rpm then i would be a lot happier, and the tC would have much better gas milage

However, it would be a pain in the ___ for the motor to keep that speed up. I don't think the engine has enough power to maintain a highway cruising speed with a gear ratio that a 6th gear would have.

sure it would, yes the gear ratios would change, but if your going to use that arguement then why does the nissan versa come with a 6 speed? it has less power then our car does....
