would it be possible to just change the gear ratios on the stock trans? i guess you might need a high end trans to be changeable but i dont know much about them

Smarten up.
Sorry bro, but u have no idea whats it like to be in an accident at those speeds...it may be stupid(which i agree) but sometime u can't help urself...i know whats the worst that can happen, ive been in that situation so please dont act like ur schooling me in anything...

U have no room to be talking unless ur perfect and have NEVER street raced or even watched any illegals...so please take ur opinion elsewhere where someone who is uneducated in this area can learn from ur many mistakes.

P.S. Most of the VERY FEW times i have raced anyone, the race was over by the time i hit 60...they were already so far behind no point in going any faster...i rarely ever break 75 on the freeway, cause after my accidents it is a lil scary goin that fast...worse when someone else is driving.

Without turning this into a ____ing match ... I will mention that I have "experienced" and accident at over 100MPH in a Jetta (was not driving). So I know exactly where you are coming from. I am not "schooling" anyone ... I am saying take it to the track.

And if you can't help yourself from driving 140MPH on a regular basis on public roads, highways or otherwise, you don't below behind a ____ing wheel or a car. Go back to your Big Wheel or Barbie Powerwheels.

I hope that second part wasnt directed to me...in my post u quoted i never mentioned going even close to those speeds (140)...couldn't even if for some stupid reason i had the urge...

My first accident was a roll over at 50(speed limit was 45), and second was running straight into a wall at over 80(speed limit was 65 on freeway)...both were hell and im lucky i survived, which is why i dont go stupid fast.

Im just sayin that someone would be lying if they said they've never done it, and if they've done it then they have no room telling anyone else not to no matter what the situation.

Not meant to be a ____ing contest...just cant stand it when people think they have room to ORDER someone else to take it to the track and call others stupid for the same s*** that EVERYONE does once in awhile.

I do however agree that doing that type of thing on a regular basis is far from a good idea, but i would leave it at that because i have no room to talk...even though i havent gone quite that fast, i have still sped excessively.

if you want to up your top speed put bigger tires on, changes final gear ratio and there you go.

1) If you can't help yourself you need to see a therapist.
2) No, the worst that can happen is that you kill innocent people with your stupidity. If you wanna wreck and die in a 200mph firey cartwheel of doom, be my guest - just go out in the salt flats or something where you won't take any bystanders with you.
3) Someone doing something in the past is not a qualifier for justifying your own actions. Stupid is stupid, the only difference is that he grew up and saw that. "You used to do it so don't lecture me about it," doesn't hold water.
4) It's not the top speed that makes street racing so stupid & dangerous - it's the ***** acceleration. You can't react or stop quick enough if there is an unknown variable introduced.

Grow up and take it where it belongs - the track.

this could have been a nice informative and useful speculative thread had it not been for the roots of the OP wanting his 6th gear...

yea i agree this needs to stop being a thread about what you shouldnt do, no one is perfect having said that I believe he should be told ONCE that we advise him not to go about street racing and do it on a track. There is no need for everyone to throw in there 2 cents about there own accidents and flame him

^^ yeh seriously. driving 140 on the street is stupid, we all know that. but lets try to stay on topic and only reply if you have to say something about the 6 speed tranny or a way to pass 130. lets just pretend he said he wants to do that on the track.

I agree fully...shouldnt have gone this far...

But anyways...if you wanted to go that fast you wouldn't need a 6th gear...just need to get rid of the limiter...the 5th gear on the tc is wide enough to take you to 140+ but u need morw power to get there too because the tc in stock trim would probably poop out at 130.

My car can accelerate very quickly all the way up to 130 but then the limiter kicks in. the car wants to keep goin but cant. the 6th gear would only be handy for fuel savings which is sorely needed!

a taller final drive would affect all gears, not just 5th, so you might be doing more bad then good by doing something like that, that is unless tons of R&D is done

a taller 5th Gear is what we need so that when we cruise in 5th we could get much better gas mileage

one of the advantages of cruising in the tC in 5th is being able to speed up witout having to downshift!!

A taller final drive affecting all gears would be great...if u drive a turbod tC u understand why...first gear is gone in literally a half second with nothing but wheel spin...second is gone in 1.5 second with nothing but wheel spin...third is a little more useable...fourth ur flying...and fifth, ur STILL drinkin an ish load of gas at freeway speeds!

If first, second, and third became longer i definately wouldn't complain and i would still accelerate faster than other turbo tcs (with same power) because my power is more useable(taking more advantage of the gears and i have to shift less...i wouldnt be burning through tires all the way to third!

We need to talk to Todd and see if there is a way he could get started on this project....excellent idea "sciontcnj"!

^^yeah they were still short even stock....suppose its good for our cars cause they are a wee bit on the heavy side but when u turn up the torque, its a very bad thing!

our 1,2 and 3 feel so short because of our low rpm limit, my bros SI has super short gears but they feel longer because of the rpm limit is at 8grand

but u guys are partly right, for a bosted tc longer gears would be better for more power control
