Sup guys,

Just wondeirng if anyone heard the tacoma's TRD supercharger. If so does it whine? Or is it really silent? Because chances are our's will be similiar right?

I have heard a few in the shop before. It definitely has a distinctive sound, but they are two different styles of superchargers so I dont know how much they will sound alike.

 

TRD SC's arent that loud... almost still silent in a way..

i know this girl with a TRD SC 4 runner.. i gotta tell ya, she is FAST, especially for an automatic. she hits 8's on 1/8 mile.... her 4 runner isnt loud...

now that a FAST SUV.... SUV!!!!

our supercharger i blieve wunt be anything lik the turbo for the tC

 

I think the Tacoma uses a roots type blower which is usually pretty whiney

 

are we talking about the 05 tacoma and if so, where can i get a supercharger for it.

 

i dont think the 05 blower is out yet. but for the 3.4 its a twin roots style blower and it is a bit noisy. I never got to hear the 2.7l blower, it was pulled off the market soon after it was introduced. I love my tacoma, and miss it even more.

Also our blower on the tc is totally different. the tcs is a centrifical force blower. its basically a belt driven turbocharger instead of exhaust driven.

 

I had an SC on my 1.8L Matrix - roots type, not centrifugal, like the tC Vortech one. Matrix SC was pretty quiet with stock airbox, but with CAI or Short Ram it made the sweetest sound ever.
