Anyone gutted the precat on the stock exhaust manifold?
Just curious to see if anyone has gutted the precat on stock exhaust manifold? I'm curious to see what gains could be made without the cat since its the most restrictive part. Would love to see the dyno in comparison to the the megan, DC, and AW headers. I'm willing to bet that at worst it would make numbers very similar to the Megan header, which would save me $200+ dollars. I'm all for free mods. Of course you would have to now run a anti-fouler.

The work involved wouldn't be worth it... at the price people are getting header setups for these days.... Even if you gutted it out, you'd still have this huge open space in the middle then, and that'd mess with airflow pretty significantly.

i was thinking of gutting it out but then as wedrivescion has said, i would only assume you be backfiring like crazy, i got my megan header for 173 otd from ebstores off ebay but ive been seeing generic megan for 150 shipped and once i noticed a generic alphawerks for under 200
