Burning smell while in reverse
Hey guys,
So this is my first manual car so don't bash me too much ;) Anyways I reverse into my garage and it has quite a lip going from driveway into the garage. I have to give it some power to get up there, once it's going too fast I press the clutch down to slow down. Do i have to use my brake first and then press the clutch down? I think I'm not getting something here because once I get out there is a pretty bad smell, which I think is clutch burning. Car has 1k on it... Help me out please.
Thank you,
Dainius

i still dont understand people parking in reverse...its a PITA! i say just stop trying to do that until u learn to drive the car properly.
i see people in parking lots wasting so much time parking in reverse just so they can "leave quicker" which is stupid cuz it takes just as long to park as it would to reverse out of the spot.

If the car only has 1k on it, the clutch still needs to be broken in to start. And by the sounds of it, you are more than likely riding the clutch, which is causing it to burn up.
