Buyers Guide: Scion tC Exhaust
Well...managed to get all the way through the thread with out my head a'sploding...which exhaust would be the best choice for an '06 A/T if I'm planning to go F/I in the near-ish future? I want an exhaust that leaves room for some serious growth (at least in relation to an A/T...<_<)

you might want to look at some catbacks, i.e, dezod, ptuning, ark, agency power, skunk. a axleback alone will still create too much backpressure with the rest of your stock exhaust system.
I think I'm in love with the Dezod S-pipe-back system (SN 5125006). Sounds amazing; not too ricey, and looks to have room to grow with an eventual turbo. It's that, or wait till I go f/i in the future, and buy Dezod's turbo exhuast (SN 5125005-6).

I have a trd exhaust on mine I've heard that with headers it makes a rasp is there a way to overcome that i love the way my exhaust looks i but i want to update all of the piping but dont want the rasp
you want to update your piping? and what header are you thinking of getting? if you're getting any kind of header, though, i'd suggest ditching the trd exhaust. there are other oem style axlebacks.
lol unless you're turboed you don't have a downpipe. talking about a midpipe? and the thing is even if you upgrade the rest of your exhaust to a bigger piping, the trd one is stock spec, making your airflow bottleneck at your axleback. for oe style, there's a megen oe-r, precision muffler, tanabe, and a few others that i can't really think of right now.
im a lil confused as to the parts for the exhaust...
is it the headers, s-pipe, mid pipe, axel-back?
and the cat is the mid-pipe? or mid and s-pipe?
if it has been said before, sry.

some have to be welded on after the cat, some are direct replacements of the midpipe, but non, iirc, have a cat already on. just go to a local muffler shop and they should be stocked up with some cat converters, which they'll weld on for you. costed 120 for me to get the cat and the welding done.
the main cat is in the header, and a cat back usually starts after the s-pipe, correct.
I don't think any cat back system comes with a cat built in, but since that second (midpipe) cat is after both 02 sensors, it should not through a CEL, so you should be able to pass emmissions tests.

I'm look for an exhaust with a deep sound, but not too loud. I don't need to give the cops another reason to pull me over. I'm debating between greddy sp2 and precision muffler. What do you guys suggest, I like the idea that the sp2 gives 6hp for an axle back.
The Tanabe concept G is a really good choice. I installed mine a week ago and it is obviously a quality product. I love the way the tC sounds now, agressive but not retarded and it is manufactured for a maximum sound output of 93db which should help you avoid encounters with Johnny Law. Its never loud enough to become irritating or a bother, but you will definitely appreciate the low even tone.
The fitment was exellent, no propblems with installation and the exhaust note is awesome, a low deep rumble, that never gets out of hand and with no raspiness or wierd pops. It fits perfectly in the cut out and looks awesome. the tip hangs out just a bit from the bumper and a at a slight angle. I was never a fan of the whole " angle out" thing and i love this, its tastefully done and doesnt scream arrest me. So far i havent noticed any cracks o discoloration of the bumper from heat so it wont have those problems either.
I got compliments on it later that week. Clearly a well built product.Oh, and it weighs about half of the stock monstrosity you will be removing.
Expect to pay between 4-5 hundred but it is a part you will be very proud of.
