Default CAI breaking bracket on motor mount!(PICS)

Whats up gals and guys. Newbie, here. Well I have been browsing this forum for awhile now getting great info, but haven't found anything on this. I have an Ingen CAI and it has broke the bracket on the motor mount twice now! The first time it happened I took it to the dealer and had it fix under warranty. Figured it was a bad bracket. Now it just broke again. Same spot as last time.

Has anyone else had this happen? I don't want to take it back to the dealer, because it took a day to fix. They had to replace the whole mount. Thinking I will just weld some sort of extra support to it. Just surpised that noone else has had this happen.

Most of the folks with K&N intakes have had that happen. Youre the first to post the problem with the Injen that I know of but its difnitely not a new thing to hear about.

Does the motor move that much to cause it to break

Not at the moment, but I'll try to get some pics. If I have time to fix it this weekend, I'll get pics of that too.

Yeah, I've heard of this with the K&N but not the Injen. I have the Injen as well and have had it for about a month now with no problems, but maybe that isnt long enough. I know a lot of people who've had the Injen a while now though and they didnt have any problems. Weird...

I would like to see some pics of what you are talking about also. The only place I can see any tension being placed would be where the intake is mounted with the vibramount to the frame/sheet metal. My intake can be wiggled slightly with the hand, so I'm sure the engine has no problems moving it, especially not enough to break a mount. But please, hook us up with some pics!

This seems weird to me. How Can the aluminum tube of a CAI break a motor mount? Also, how would you know if you've got a broken mount? Excess engine movement?

When I first noticed it was during start up. Every time it would vibrate on the inner fender where the tube goes through.

The motor mount it self doesn't break. Its the piece that comes up off of it and attaches to the intake. I believe its right under where the map sensor goes.

I will try to get pics after I get done with work tommorrow

jbweld suposta be good but only on things that are less then 500 deg F --- meaning - u cant use it on your exhaust or manifold - but on the piece u are talking about - u have a good shot at that being good for that use

im interested in seeing pics to. I had the Injen on for a month and had no problems. But for some od reason i cant picture how it was mounted up. I dont see how the bracket would break and not the piping bend.

i've had my K&N cai on for a year now and the only problem i had was the intake mounting bolts came loose and that was the only time i noticed the intake touching the the hole it passes through. after tighening all the bolts again, i have not had any problems...

its an easy fix..first weld what ever is broken back together...second get yourself an ENGINE TORQUE DAMPER. the mount is broken because of the engine movement, and the leverage on the intake. it sits up way to high...so this cause alot of stress on the engine when the fuel is shut...to prevent this a ETD would solve it..or just lay off the gas
