I have seen two threads on this... sounds like they used the same crappy design as the K&N... which broke mine in a month.. so I removed it. For those with the K&N on for long periods.. double check.. you wont even know it is broken untill you happen to see it or untill the other mount under the fender begins flexing as well and the rattling starts. Horrible design, period. I wont put mine back on until I create a new mounting solution for it. The torque damper would help.. but is still no excuse. Breaking that under normal operation is just poor design. I dont launch my car hard or drag race, so it had no more than the normal amount of engine movement.

It is mounted to a peice of bracket that you can bend with your hand. This is the inner mount for the stock airbox.. but the stock airbox has two other bolts nearby holding it. The CAI has a long bracket attached there also giving it lots of leverage. Everytime the engine moves it torques that bracket.. like bending a peice of soft metal back and forth till it breaks.

Yeah I'm going to try and weld it, but I'm going to make some gussets. Something they should have done from the factory.

I busted mine after a few months. Its not designed for the long braket on the CAI. I made a new one out of 1/8" x 1" aluminum from Home Depot. Cost a few $ and drilled some holes. Good as new. When it warms up Im going to make a better one that isnt a POS thing. It was just too cold to play around with that thing and I dont have a garage.

Yeah, K&N dropped the ball on this one. They attached to something not designed for the force applied

Hmm, I don't see how that would break with the vibramount, it wouldn't be putting all the force on the bracket itself. I've had my Injen for about 2 months now and have done some hard driving, so I'm going to go check mine

Mine is fine, and upon paying more attention to it while moving the intake with my hand, the rubber mount takes all the movement and the bracket doesn't take any of the force.
From those pictures, that mount looks different, shiny, like poly/hard plastic?(at least it looks that way in the picture to me) mine is definitely soft/pliable rubber.

^^ not sure on the Injen.. but it definitely does break it on the K&N.. I would say the rubber may slow it down.. but some of that tq is still being applied to a very thin, soft bracket.

Fixed the mount today. Please don't mind my poopy welding. All I have is arch welder, but it got the job done. Soild as a rock now.

Weird thing now is that I have a cel light on now and if you push the acc pedal to far it dies. Disconected the battery before welding and didn't burn any wires. Even let it sit and idol before driving.

Took it to the dealership, but not open til monday. So, now I get to cruise around in a Xb. SWEEEEET.

I looked at mine and it isn;t broke. I have put on 14,200 miles since install. How long did it take yours to brake?

^^ your cel and dying issue is most likely due to the maf. Make sure you re-installed correctly and that the wiring is in tact

I recommend just making a new bracket and going to one of the other bolts in the area. I did it and its worked out very well. Its much stronger than the one that everybody seems to break. Cost less than $5 too.

the piece you are taking about - do you mean the bracket that has the rubber spacer on it?
