Default CAI question. Warning: Newbie question

I'm new to the whole car scene and got my tc a little over a week ago. Was thinking about getting the Injen CAI, but would it work/fit for an automatic transmission tc? Or does transmission not matter? Is it worth getting it for an automatic? Is it healthy for the engine? Thanks a lot, and sorry about the newb questions =( .

the tranny doesnt matter. the only thing is that youre mileage might take a hit and its not street legal in CA but im not sure if thats all states.

the injen intake is great. i have one and love. gl on the purchase!

what do you mean mileage might take a hit?

if you bought an 07 watch out for the fitment issues that have sprung up a few topics over the past days. the MAF wont align with the screws on the CAI

since you have more air going into the engine, the ECU will probably need to be reset. this means that itll relearn and calculate what it needs to run efficently. this means with more air = more gas = more horsepower.

Yep, the ECU, in order to keep the stoichiometric ratio, will have to add more fuel in order to compensate for the cooler, denser air you are taking in (that is how they make more power). The claims of intake manuafacturers of more power AND more HP are 100% bs. The intake in no way makes the engine run more efficient (there are long arguments some make as to how they can.. but I can gladly punch holes in those.. as can many others on here that know what they are talking about), they simply allow for a denser, cooler charge.

But all in all, the intakes effects are in no way highly noticeable and really only fool your butt dyno with thier sound. I have run the tC with and without it.. so outside of a properly controlled dyno environment dont expect to see a big gain. They do look nice, sound nice (if you dont dislike the stock whistle, which will be greatly amplified by it) and do provide a couple of HP... at least some have measured it.

I have heard, as someone already brought up, that some have had issues on the 07.. but they fit just fine on the 05's and 06's both auto and 5spd. The one I have that is no longer on my car was off an auto. The owner bought a turbo and sent me the CAI to put on mine. Mine was the K&N.. so it broke the mounting point and I took it off cause of the annoying rattle that it started.

look at the visor if it has an extender than its the 07. also you have the passenger airbag on off i believe its on the bottom right... but it might be on the left. its on the center console.

how about duct taping that sucker down real tight? but i guess if youd go in for some warranty work it might look a little sloppy and im sure theyll try to tie that into the situation.
