Default Can i get some insight??

Quick question.....i was driving the other day when some focus revved it up next to me.....me being the way i am, lol , i revved up 3 times....i got to the place i had to go....about 30 min later i started my car back up and realized that my check engine light came on....and the last time that came on was when i installed my headers without the antifouler.....needless to say....it stayed on for about 1 full day.....the next day driving to lunch....the light just shut off...which led to me believe that it was probably just my o2 sensor acting up.....does anyone else have any ideas or has this happened to anyone else? i'm not too worried about it.....when it happened i was but now im banking on the "it was the 02 sensor" lol comments???!?!!! lol

My check engine light came on right after I installed my header too, but since I work at a dealership I had to hook up my car to the techstream (scan tool) and manualy clear the codes. So my suggestion is that you should take it to Toyota ($100) or some independent shops do it to for cheaper. That should take care of your problem with your check engine light.

You can clear the codes for free. Just disconnect the battery cable for a few minutes. No need to pay 100 for it. Or you can buy a code reader that will clear them for about 40 bucks. If you mod your car, you should at least have a code reader. You can buy a diagnostics tool that will actually give you sensor data, that plugs into a laptop for 200 or less if you look around, or just get a scangauge.

But if you are running a header without an antifouler , it will eventually come back on. Some people have it come on right away, some say it is intermittent. But without an antifouler, it is going to cause issues with that.

Clearing codes does not keep them from coming back. It just resets it until the issue comes back, or is present for enough "trips" to set the particular code

But in any case, without reading the code and telling us what it is, we will have no idea what it is trying to tell you.

It seems that the antifouler trick is not always 100% effective, so it may just be that it is an intermittent thing with that. To be sure, just get the code pulled next time.
