Default Car Vibration at Idle (a/c on)

Lately, there seems to be alot of vibration in the car while at idle. Especially when the a/c is on, I can feel the vibration pretty good while stepping on the brake peddle, and I just thought that it shouldn't be like this. Its pretty obvious while the tranny is in Drive, but even when I put it in Netural, I could still feel it, though more subtle. The car is a 06 auto with roughly 19,5xx miles and I dont see why it would have vibrations like this at this point. I'll probably take it in to Toyota and let them check it out, but any replies are appreciated. Thanks!

it could be a lot of things... check the spark plugs... check the maf sensor... check the motor mounts... it could be electrical...

Hmm, I'll probably check the spark plugs myself, but as for the MAF sensor. Shouldn't the CEL come on if there is something wrong with that? I'm not sure, but thanks for pitching in.

I thought it was normal. Almost every tC I've been in does that.

yeah it sucks. lol makes the car seem old and cheap. but yeah A/C does take a toll on the tc. especially if u have a manual... seems like the clutch hits lower and rougher.

yup! that happens to mine also. (43k miles) i thought it was because i leave it on for LONG periods of time, but after seeing MANY tc owners complain about the same problem, sounds like that's how they all are.. perhaps toyota/scion did something wrong with our cars ... if anyone finds a solution let us know!

A "slightly" dirty MAF sensor could be enough to make a rough idle, but not enough to throw a CEL code. I've seen it happen often on other cars.

I'm kinda surprised by the number of responses that say that the vibration might be normal... mine is not rough at all and the only thing that I have on my motor is a GFI and hand-made ground kit (otherwise, the motor is stock)... hmmm...

Dam, i dont know if i should be happy or sad that its so "common", but i suppose theres not much i can do about it then. I just wanted to make sure there wasnt anything wrong with the car. Thanks for all the replies.

Well wat rpm is it idling at? If i were you i would still atleast try to check something, just because alot of people say its common, doesnt mean you're totally safe. If you really wanna be safe then i would atleast take it to the dealer. And i misread your post. I thought u said just when a/c is on. Like i said in my previous post. My tc only gets slightly rougher with the A/C on and ____tier driveability then off. When off Its smooth as butter. iono if its the same with auto,
but mine idles between 600-700 rpm. Depnding on how rough, but rough idles are usually suspects in alot of the older used cars ive driven. In most cases it could be spark plugs or dirty injectors. Even though your at 20k id still check. Also a quick fix i used is fuel injector cleaner on my old integra. Beleive it or not it fixed it right up. its called BG44k. either that or try Redline SI-1

I'm not sure what it idles at exactly, but i'm gonna guess its around the 700rpm area. The car vibrates even when the a/c is off, but it gets alot more noticeable with I turn the a/c on. I'll look into the fuel injector cleaner and see if that helps. If not, perhaps i'll just stop by the dealership and have them take a look before my waranty is up, lol. Also, sometimes when i'm just putting it into Drive, or Reverse, and i turn the wheel, i can feel a violent shake from it. My friend was guessing that the car was sorta stalling, but i'm curious to know the reason. I can't reproduce it at will, but its happened to me a few times already.

yeah it shuld be like 650, i guess if your tachometer says its lil under 700 then yur fine. yeah try some fuel injector cleaner. Its sumin that wouldnt hurt to try. But dont buy that ____ty stuff at the station. BG44k power enhancer is the way to go. 1 bottle before u fill up gas. or redline SI-1 which isnt as effective but its a lil cheaper.
