Default CEL after LED swap?

So yesterday I took out my gauge cluster to redo my LED swap. I had driven the car to the store before doing the LED swap, and no CEL was on during the drive to the store or on the way home. I did the swap (i did not disconnect the battery when removing the cluster) and after the swap, i replaced the cluster, and the LEDS worked fine, so i put everything back together.

Today I start up the car to go out, and the CEL stayed on. Anyone know if doing a LED swap might somehow cause a CEL?

Or does anyone know a place where they can get the code checked for cheap or free?

i thought i read somewhere autozone couldn't do that anymore. dunno. you can always try.

and no.. a swap won't cause a CEL... though driving the car without the cluster plugged in may possibly do so.

driving around without the cluster plugged in will trip the CEL for a while. Itll go off in about 50 miles or so. If it doesnt go off after that, than its not the cluster thats tripping the CEL.

i did go to autozone before to see if i could get a code checked, and they did say they stopped doing it...at least they stopped here in CA, dunno about other states
