Changing Automatic tC Tranny Fluid! DIY!!
Ok. This is my first DIY thread. I have only been on scion life for so long. I have used many DIY threads on here for my of my projects for the tC. I have yet to find one on changing the tranny fluid on an automatic tC. So I just jacked the car up and found out how easy it really was. So all in all I am doing this to show people how easy this is. I bought my tC used and I do drive it hard most of the time...it is just a great and fun car to drive! The dealer told me when I got the oil changed that the tranny fluid could be changed. I was like what?! But I checked it my self and it was a little dark. but still had life. But I decided to change it anyways to be on the safe side. Really didnt cost me much and I get to inform you guys on how to do this. So here we go.
First, Jack the car UP! Jack stands whould be the best way. Ramps are ok too. But make sure the car is going no where!! Pull the e-brake and make sure its in park. Safety is key! Do not take this lightly.
When you jack the car up and get underneath it you will see something like this:

It's no hard to miss. You will see the oil pan but this is the tranny pan and it is a bit larger then the oil pan. Its super easy to get the bolt undone. It will start leaking right away dont freak out just unscrew it and place it somwhere out of the way for a minute.
Here is a few more pics of what it should look like:

You will need 3.7 bottles of tranny fluid to fill it up to the perfect amount. So I bought 5 bottles. I used on to run through the tranny after it was drained. You dont have to do this but I did. Thought it was good to do. here is how I filled it up:

This is where the tranny dip stick goes. I just pulled it out and put in the funnel. Super easy. Make sure if you want to put one bottle through to put the drain screw back in. Then put in 3 bottles. Or did what I did and check the fluid level, with the dip stick, after 2 bottles and then after 3 bottles. Then put in about half of the fourth and it worked out to be about perfect.
So there you go. Thats it. Super easy. Save your self some money and do it yourself instead of paying the dealer a bout load of money. You can buy the tranny fluid at Toyota too. Or any where else, I believe it has to be T-IV tranny fluid. It will say on the back of the bottle. Any input or suggestions would be great. Hope this helps.

this should be in the maintenance section.
also did u drain out the fluids from the crank case? cuz not all of it drains out by itself.
but thats pretty much all u need to do. drain and fill very wat? 30k miles?

They say you dont have to drain it till over 100k. But Im sure if you drive hard like I do sometimes its more like 50k-60k. I have 62k on the tC and the tranny fluid was a little dark. So that is why I did it. Maybe every 30k might be good, really good. Im still new to this....how do I put it in maintenance section?
