Can anyone tell me how much does the ClutchMaster Flywheel weigh? I know that the Fidanza weighs 9.5lbs and the Unorthodox weighs 11lbs. Trying to get the lightest flywheel, but the most durable, to match my ClutchMaster Stage 2 Clutch. Any help is appreciated. Thanks

 

10lbs is what ive heard. Call CM just to make sure.

Fidanza is elite. Lighter than CM at 9lbs 2.8oz. Definitly recommend the Fidanza.

Fidanza can be had for $230 shipped. Definatly what Im getting when I change my clutch.

If I'm not mistake, and someone correct me if I'm wrong, you don't want to go TOO light on your flywheel because if your flywheel is too light you lose rev/rpms in your engine. The weight of the flywheel some what helps in the rotating inertia of the engines transfer of power to the transmission. Can someone else confirm me on this?

 

Sorry, I should have been more specific. When you shift, that point in time when the clutch is engaged, thats when you can lose rpms. Under normal driving it may not be noticeable, performance driving is when you would notice it.

 

Your revs drop faster due to the less rotating mass, but that has no detrimental effects. Your throttle response is more immediate. Think of it like one of those stupid crank pullies without the danger to your engine and with twice the performance difference.

There are absolutely no consequences from installing a lightened flywheel outside of install error. It's all beneficial.

Stock flywheel weights over 16 pounds, Fidanza weights almost 9lbs even.

 

Just got my Fidanza Lighweight Flywheel, Spec Stage 2 Clutch, & TWM Short Shifter... and Wow!!! It feels like a different car! Clutch is something, I'm trying to get use to... but damn throttle respone is much quicker... takes away some of that throttle lag. This is a must!

yeah, stay away from aluminum flywheels, they don't hold up very well for very long. playinwithfire had a serious problem with his.

 

I agree. I only use forged steel flywheels like the Competition clutch units. They are much safer, stronger and not much more money.

 

i have heard that a lighter FW will get you better gas mileage also... is that true?
