Default Creative Compact's exhaust porblems.(w/pictures). ::UPDATE::

This past Monday I had my MMW header and the Creative Compact's Cat back exhaust professionally installed. MMW header is Great, it fits perfectly, looks amazing, and I couldn’t be happier about it... BUT... My exhaust... very disappointed...

the issues I have with it iare as follows
1) VERY VERY LOUD AND RASPY...very embarrassing
this I know is in part to the header but, I know not entirely...

2) looks like to me that the very first pipe that comes after the S-pipe was clocked wrong... this is because the High Flow cat sits like almost 3 inches off from lining up with the rest of the exhaust. putting an inappropriate amount of stress on the rubber mountings. these mountings will break if I don't get this issue resolved...

3) At the connection where the spring loaded bolts are, the Cat pipe rubs against my Hotchkiss sways making a horrid rattle. this is obviously not a good thing...

now this is not to say they make a bad exhaust. the quality of the piping (besides the Cat pipe) look real good...

so in conclusion... I can't stand the sound, I figure part of this is the rubbing against my sway bar, and the lack of a resonator... and of course the header. the quality of the Cat pipe is unacceptable and I will be having this removed to prevent any more damage to my sways and rubber mountings...

I will be posting pictures of this whole deal in a little while..

header score: 10 out of 10,
exhaust score: 3 out of 10.

Glad to hear you like your MMW header. Mine should be here on Monday. I have the DraXas catback and I love the sound. It has a built in high flow cat and a resonator, so hopefully it won't be too loud. I am wondering if my supercharger will make it louder because of the extra air being crammed into the engine. We shall see.

Did you replace your header gasket when you installed the header? Was it just loud or was it raspy. Also, did you throw a CEL? Mine should be installed on Monday, so I'll know then. My setup is TRD supercharger, bosch sport 110 bbv, MMW header/s-pipe, and DraXas exhaust with high flow cat and resonator. I am expecting good gains with this setup. Only thing left is the supercharger intake.

you stole my set up and your problems are this:

The hotchkis thing is something that probably can't be fixed without removing the sway or something.

The stretched rubber mounts can easily be fixed by bending the hangers.

The CEL can be fixed by doing your own CEL fix, but you should have recieved a CEL Eliminator from WR with your header.

The rasp is a direct effect of not having a resonator:

This is when I had the K&N on instead of the Injen, but it sounds the same anyway.

Good info for him. Also, when you go to check the code its more than likely going to say " Bank one, sensor 2, low voltage" thats what it read on mine, then again my header had an exhaust leak due to poor quality on the first header. Have you called CC and asked why there was such a problem with the cat back? the only thing i could suggest is put the factory exhaust manifold on and re-install the header to see if its indeed the cat back and not the header causing the problem. ( but that will take a while. keep us updated on what you do.

That sucks! Sorry to hear it. Since the CC system has multiple couplins are you sure it can't be adjusted for a better fit?

Is'nt that the s-pipe touching they sway bar?

multiple couplings doesn't necessarily mean adjustable. Also, the Catback follows the same lines as the stock exhaust so there is no real adjustment.

thanks for the info... I am going to give them a call and see whats the deal, I'm kind of dissapointed that after laying almost 750 dollars down this exhaust I feel as if it should work correctly... I don't want to sound sa if I'm a pain in the ****, I just want it to work well...and I'm not liking the idea of loosing my Sway bar... it does way to much for me... I may end up taking it off if thats the case I'd take the handling over the sound and power, in a heartbeat...

the exhaust will also somewhat change form as it breaks in

Check the heat guard. There is a bolt that sticks down that could also be causing vibration or hitting. Just use a dremel and trim the bolt down.

have you tried putting your stock exhaust manifold to see if it is the exhaust for sure? Almost looks like the s pipe is forcing the exhaust downward....

when you drop $750 on an exhaust the fit should be perfect. that's alot of money.

I have CC full, bought about 8 months ago. Same problem. The issue is the High-Flo Cat, their piping was way off on the S-Pipe side on mine. Had to stretch the mounts and muscle the thing in there to make it fit, so I know what youre talking about. After I added MMW header, I had to remuscle it back in at a slightly different angle and the Cat hit the heatshield, major rattles. Caused the entire setup, Cat to tip, to be angled and not fit correctly at all.

When I took mine in for a resonator install, I just had them chop the front piping and reweld it to make everything strait. Easy enough fix.

So I know what you're talking about.

yeah I'm torn, I can't deside which to do... rip it all off and put the stock one back on... or take it to a muffler shop and pay to get it reworked... I've got the next week to deside...

Good mufflr shop, it would cost 100-150 to get a resonator and fittment fixed. I paid 122.

Just fitment, probably 20-30.

Welcome to the world of aftermarket.

Same problems here...plus one. I just installed a full CC exhaust with high flow cat and resonator. I have stock sway bar and this thing only clears it by 3/8". The hanger can be bent for a better fit. I had to get the torch out and use some muscle. It looks as if they are welding it on upside down. Another issue is that my resonator is hitting the cross member. I left the crossmember out for now and am not sure how I will resolve that yet. I wasn't sure if these problems were because I am using the ZPI s-pipe or not. Now, I am sure it is CC. For the money we forked over for this system, we should get a PERFECT fit. It sounds awesome but am not happy with the install. Let me know what CC says about the matter. I will be calling them also.

Sadly, everyone says this, but I still have yet to see a PERFECT [consistent] fitting aftermarket part yet.

Get used to fab'ing.

just put some thermal/heat wrap around the sway bar and it will be cushioned.
