Default Cruise Control not Working?

So Installed my new HU and I get a Check Engine Light , and the passenger air bag light came on.
To make things short I redid the install today , and passenger air bag light turned off , but I still have the Check Engine Light , and Cruise Control does not work.
The light that says cruise comes on but will not set at any speed. I do not have a warranty , and will probably get killed with fees if I take it in to the dealership.

Any suggestions?

I have to agree check connections and fuses. Did you unhook the battery? I so you may have to reset the system like we had to on our auto windows.

I got the warning read and it was error code p500 which is the vss wire hmm I researched and it seems sometimes peoples speedometer will not work when this error is thrown, and my speedo still works. Tried resetting the ecu by unplugging the negative battery terminal and it still works. I hope its not to hard or expensive to fix

I'm having the same problem after installing a new motor and a APR X-1 piggy back , Did you find the problem? Where is the Vehicle Speed Sensor?

My Cruise Control isn't working either. I just bought a 2006 Scion xA and it came with the Cruise Control.

Sometimes the light turns on, sometimes it doesn't. But even when the light is on, it doesn't set a speed.

The reason why you are experiencing these problems is because a lot of head units use the vss wire for a navigation unit, or some other accessory. Im guessing the op either did not have that particular wire connected correctly, had a short in that wire, or popped the fuse.

A bad vss (variable speed sensor) connection would lead to improper spedometer readings, and no cruise control.

With the x1, did you hardwire it or is it a pnp harness?

I didnt wire it. I just bought it that way, so I cant answer that question. I can tell you though I'm pretty sure its the Rostra cruise control.
