I got mine today also and I was gonna do the same thing, but its gonna rain around here for the next couple of days so I won't get a chance this weekend. Let me know how the install was and if there are any problem bolts (and if the Torx E7 is needed ) . Also is yours a 4-2-1 or a 4-1?

Mine is 4-1 although DC says 4-2-1 on their website.

Isn't it beautiful? Mine is a 4-1 as well...don't know why it's listed as a 4-2-1. I noticed you have the K&N CAI and the TRD exhaust..how does it feel? Notice a difference? I'm getting the K&N and thinking about getting the TRD exhaust but i'm still thinking on it. I might get the DC Sports exhaust but i'm not into anything too loud. How does the K&N intake effect the sound of the exhaust?

More tomorrow..

You will definitely notice a difference with the K & N. When you hit the gas, you'll feel the car accelerateing faster than the with the stock setup. It made the TRD sound louder and after the headers are installed, the I/H/E combo on the tC will sound pretty sweet. Alhough the DC Sports Single Canister Exhaust claims to be a catback, if you look at pics of it mounted on a tC, it looks like it's connected to the stock piping by the axle, so it might be just another axleback. The TRD is great for sound, but I dunno if theres any power gains. Also checkout the Ingen exhaust.

Where are you finding pics of the cat-back???

When you get this header installed I must know what it sounds like. I want to get the header for my moms car but I dont want it to be any louder.

So were going to have all the same mods as you. hahah. K&N, DC header, TRD exhaust.

I've been jumping back and forth between the Injen, DC, & TRD for the past couple of weeks. I can't seem to make a decision! I know I shouldn't rely soley on videos, but the sound that the Injen gives on them isn't what i'm looking for. So until then....i'll keep deciding. Most likely the TRD though..

And..Techinically, the catalytic converter is one piece from the header all the way to the axle. So I guess what DC Sports claims on their new exhaust is somewhat true. The only way to change the piping is to cut the pipe RIGHT after the converter. The converter is actually a one piece system from under the engine to the axle. So that would make the TRD exhaust a cat back as well.

If you look closely at the pics, you'll notice the exhaust is connected to stock black piping of the car.

Looks like you have point (from the tC service manual)

The real cat in mounted on the stock exhaust mani. The 2nd cat doesnt do anything besides cause back-pressure as they all do.

As for the DC cat-back. What if that black pipe is included with the system. Its just black because its not seen so it doesnt have to be pretty???

Im sure its a cat-back.

When installed my TRD exhaust, I had to connect it to that same black pipe. I've seem the DC cat-back system on other cars come with all new silver piping. If it comes with that black pipe, then I guess thats something different.

12/10/04
2:44pm CT

Update: I'm at the shop right now but no card reader so I can't upload the pix as of yet. You do need to Torx E7 to remove a stud to take the heat shield off. You could probably use pliers or vice grips as well. Back in an hour or so...MOO HA HA!

12/10/04
4:35pm CT

Update: Installation completed! No problem installing except we had to move the oil stick to get it in. Fits nice, no leaks, no problems w/ tools.

As for the difference...you can feel a nicer pull, especially @ 4k rpms. nycazn, if you haven't installed it yet...I think it will be awesome with your intake and exhaust. Can't wait to get mine! I think i'm sticking with K&N for now...I won't be needing the intake for long anyhow...due to future mods that is ;). As for sound..with my stock exhaust, it's nothing cool or spectacular, but you CAN hear a difference. A little more grr to it...

I'm satisfied =)

FYI: I called the dealer to see how much installation would be for those of you guys who are considering switching out your exhaust manifold, and they told me it would be about $196.

Total I spent for this mod including part & installation...$264. Good deal, huh? It'll all add up with everything else I want to do...

Pictures posted VERY SOON.

I paid the same thing from www.mcgeorgeparts.com. $299-$50 Scion Gift card = $249 + $15 S/H

BTW...good luck finding that torx E7 piece. I checked home deopt, strauss auto, & sears and no one had it by itself or even a set with that piece in it.
