i like ur idea there. im going to try the same thing but i want a one piece pipe unlike the spectre pieces that are connected together. im thinking a civic intake pipe modified would work nicely. i would just need to cut one end off and couple it to the stock intake box with a 90 bend coupler.

i've searched high and low and i can't find a single tube. i could cut the sri i bought from ebay but i would need to plug the valve cover with a breather filter. kinda don't want to do that. so i guess i would have to bootleg u dr isotope. can u list exactly what parts u bought from spectre? thank you.

1) Spectre 8771 Coupler/Reducer Combo or 3

To 2.5 Black - $4.99

2) Spectre 8751 Reducer-Coupler 3" to 2.5"

Black - $4.99

3) Spectre 8728 Air Intake Tube 22 Degree

Elbow 3" Chrome - $8.99

4) Spectre 8668 Air Intake Tube 60 Degree

Elbow 3" Chrome - $10.69

5) Spectre 8698 Air Intake Tube 90 Degree

Elbow 3" Chrome - $10.69

6) Spectre 8711 Optional Air Intake

Is the breather tube the same as the MAF sensor? If so, yes. You will need to use a part from #6 to drill a hole in #3 I believe.

So I said to myself is $200 really worth it? No. The gains are minimal/negligible. It's just for show and sound, IMO. The only intake I would ever consider getting would be the Weapon*R.

Here are 3 modifications to the stock intake that I did:

1. Intake resonator removal. (Courtesy of Doc. I.) ~$3
2. K&N Drop-In Filter. ~$45
3. Piping after airbox removal. This pipe is supposed to make the intake work like a CAI. After realizing the pipe drops about 6 inches lower than the airbox, I came to the conclusion that it probably isn't that beneficial. FREE.

Results:

Nothing really significant, but sound. It gives a deep growl like a CAI/SRI.
Power gains are negligible.
I bet it gives as much whp as the Um-Nitza . Just my opinion.

During the whole process, I disconnected my - terminal. Once I finished, I connected it back, turned the car on and let it idle for about 5-10 minutes to reset the ECU.
im not understanding this. im sure this has been asked, but i diont feel like looking and the pic isnt coming up for some reason.

so where exactly is the resonator on the intake? and will this effect emmisions? and why does it cost 3 dollars. haha

(sorry newbii momnets, just trying to get everything straight)

bump to this, I wanted to try this with the xB, but the VSV connector is attached to to the air box (I don't know much about VSV, maybe there's a way around it ?) and I wanted to just do a Intake Cone.

The removing of the lower portion of the Intake box and taping the K&N sounds like an interesting idea, how did that work out for anyone?
