150F is hard to achieve. What are your reccomendations to reach this levels. Distilled Water, A good thermostat...what else?

That would beat ther whole purpose of the coolant valve, why not let it open so all the coolant always go thru. I don't see it as a good thing doing this. Why do you recommend it?
I believe its to allow air to escape so that the engine warms up evenly during startup. Prevent hotspots? Not sure what other benefit it would have... That would be a 1/16 hole.

An aftermarket transmission fluid cooler (reduces the load on the radiator). Some people use engine oil coolers too but I've never tried that. The transmission fluid cooler made a world of difference. I hooked mine up in series with the lines going to the radiator, so the hot fluid went through the cooler, then through the radiator, then back to the transmission. Worked like a charm.

So adding another "radiator" will yield results. I see that an extreme option, but would be fun to try for an all track car. You meant using the transmission cooler for coolant itself and not transmission fluid, right?

yeah normally the water temps are supposed to be around 210, its always good to get it to run lower than that if you can, its the not to low, but just low enough kinda thing

I will see how idle is affected now when the temps outside are over 90, and an idle of 20 minutes. Also The car did show improvements, I would say since that is a huge drop. Did the thermostat did it? Well that would be the question, was it the Water wetter or the thermostat? Since I don't believe a lot in magical liquids, I would say that the thermostat did the mayority of the temp drop.

I wanted to see idle to a more close control, so I wanted more suitable ambient temps. So I went today and got new measurements at a more normal ambient temp of 87*F.





This is after 20 minutes of normal driving conditions, with normal traffic/ Stop and Go





I wanted to see how at idle and pushinf the engines RPM up would affect the car. I use the A/C here to test this enviroment. Here are the results.



End result of the day:

Using:
Distilled Water 70%
High Grade Coolant: 15%
Red Line Water Wetter: 15% (Used the whole bottle)

Before Temps: 197-205*F
Idle Temp after 20minutes: 183.2*F
Idle after 20 minutes of driving: 185*F
Car stopped, and RPMs at 3838: 176*F

Results:
From Normal Idle temps 197*F to 183.2*F= -13.8*F

While RPMs at 3838 with no air going thru the Radiator since the car is at a stop: over 200*F to 176*F= around -20 to maybe all the way to 34*F.

[Max temps on OEM cooling system=210*F minus the lowest temps while stopped(176*F)= 34*F]

NOTE: All result may not be accurate, so please bear with me. :D

Very cool DIY -no pun intended ;) If you want to stress the radiator system just park the car and turn on the AC at full bore (hell open up the windows if you feel lucky! Quick test and it does not matter what the outside temp is as much casuse the hot air from the condenser will elevate the air going to the radiator. This is a good way of doing a before and after test.

I have stayed in the car for an hour (yesterday), with the A/C ON, the temps didn't MOVE sh&t. They stayed in the 185 mark alllll the time. I don't think I can stress this cooling system a little bit more.

What type of thermostat did you use? Can one get one from Auto Zone or have to be from the dealer?

I actually got it from an internet site, like the most of my parts. You can actually get the serial number I have and check at your local auto part for a part that may check to be the same.

Yes, I got the part from the place you referred me to. (Thanks for that btw) I will be installing it hopefully this weekend because I am waiting on some other parts to come and also been pretty busy last couple weeks. I will try and report back with my findings.

Video for a Camry with the same engine. Probably the same thermostat part.
I installed this thermostat on my tC. It came with a new gasket.
