ENEOS Gear Oil Question (Manaul Transmission)
I just changed my gear oil with ENEOS 75w-90 GL-5. Whenever I shift the gears it is smoother in all ranges but more noticeable when not driving aggressively. That clunking noise I use to get from 1 - 2 (sometimes 2 - 3) is pretty much gone.
There is a difference and if it continues to act as it is doing right now I will be using this brand of gear oil as long as I have my tC. As there is a difference it is not exactly night and day and you need to really have a 'feel' of your transmission to notice and appreciate this oil.
Pros:
1) Smoother shifts (I will not exactly say it shifts like butter, but noticeably smoother comparing to fluid that came from factory).
2) Clunking noise when shifting gear 1 - 2 / sometimes 2 - 3 is either greatly reduced or gone in most cases.
Cons: None that I can think of or have found. But if I do run into a problem and I can assure that the gear oil is the cause of the problem I will report it in this thread.

^ Well one thing I forgot to add but I am not sure if this has anything to do with it. Last week I had installed a TWM Stage 2 quick shifter. I am not using a weighted ****. So when I shift into gears it takes some more energy than before. And it didn't feel as smooth.
Now it helps because it slides into gear easier and I feel less aggressive with the shifts. It still has that heavy feel when shifting but its pleasant in a way because it just seems to slide in.
I hope I am making sense here lol.

I am wanting to know the same thing, but when you look at the bottle I think it says somewhere on it for "non-limited slip". It has been a while since I looked at the bottle so if somebody can confirm this.
Take care and have a happy Thanksgiving everybody.

ENEOS MT Fluid
OVERVIEW
ENEOS Gear Oil GL-5 75W90 is a synthetic gear oil using the latest sulphur-phosphorus technology. This additive technology assures an excellent protection of the gears against metal-to-metal contact under the most severe conditions, even under shock-loads. ENEOS Gear Oil is recommended for use in bevel, spiral bevel and hypoid gear type differentials and in power dividers compatible with synchromesh ensures easy and smooth shifting even at very low temperatures.
SPECIAL FEATURES
APPLICATION
Motor oil for gasoline engines.
APPLICABLE VEHICLES
Manual transmission and none-limited differentials.
Any manual transmission or differential (NON-LSD) requiring 75W-90 & GL5 viscosity
I still believe you can use the Eneos 75w90 with the TRD/Quaife LSD because it's not really a true LSD like the OS Giken. The Quaife is gear type LSD so it seems that as long as oil is in contact with the gears, it shouldn't have any problems.
This is what it says on Quaife website regarding their unit
Such quality means that unlike a conventional plate-style LSD the QUAIFE ATB Helical LSD unit requires no special maintenance or rebuilds, long lasting and it retains the standard method of lubrication, making for an easy, pain-free upgrade.
I haven't installed my tranny with LSD but when I do, I want to use ENEOS.
I hear a lot of people talking about their clutch and how it performed. You realize that the gear oil does not do a thing related to the clutch... right??? The clutch is dry (it better be) and your gear oil does not affect it.
I would say (Especially with tons of the younger drivers on here... and street racer boys) that a higher percentage of people that complain about gear oil do so because that brand happened to be in their gearbox when they tore up their tranny due to their own driving. So you hear a lot of "I started having tranny issues with X gear oil". I have personally never heard of someone having a legitimate issue with oem, rp, eneos or any gear oil. Most of what you get out of the higher priced brands is that they are synthetic.. which means they hold their spec longer, that is it. They are simply longer lasting.

I plan on installing my TRD/Quaife LSD transmission within the next week or two. I really wanted to know if I could use ENEOS 75w90 gear oil with the TRD/Quaife LSD so I decided to e-mail QUAIFE:
Subject: Quaife differential OIL REQUIREMENTS?
I will be installing a Quaife differential in my transmission and wanted to know what kind of oil is required.
I've read from your website that normal manufacturer gear oil can be used.
The oil I really want to use is ENEOS 75w90, however on Eneo's website it states,
-APPLICABLE VEHICLES
Manual transmission and none-limited differentials.
Any manual transmission or differential (NON-LSD) requiring 75W-90 & GL5 viscosity
I'm confused about this statement and still believe I can use this oil with no problems considering the Quaife unit is still a GEAR type differential.
Please clarify,
Thanks
Nick

Dear Sir,
Thank you for your enquiry.
The Oil you suggest will be ok for the Quaife ATB Differential.
Kind regards
