Exhaust sound dramatically changes in one year?
Last September, unhappy with the way my car sounded, I installed a TRD exhuast and megan mids on to my tC. The only other power mod I had was a TRD cold air and for the following 5-6 months I was intoxicated by the sound, really loved it. Then as the snow began to melt and the summer wheels went back on, I started to notice that my exhaust was losing some of that TRD burble that I liked so much. In July I had the TRD supercharger installed and in August, it blew an oil seal, drained all but one quart of oil out of my engine without me knowing (through the exhaust mind you) leaving me needing of a new engine.
This is where I tell you all how quickly an extended warranty pays for itself...
For the last five weeks my car has been at Toyota having the entire bottom-end rebuilt and the supercharger reinstalled. I drove it for the first time yesterday and... was really disappointed. Now granted I've been driving an 09 Carolla for over a month but, the vibration and the sound from the exhaust (which I can describe as droney at best) was next to unbearable driving at highway speeds.
Here's the big Q - could the packing in my TRD axle-back really have changed that much in just one year? Yeah it has a little burble at mid-high RPMs, but not anywhere near the amout it did from September to December of 07. Is this a result of the megan pipes wearing out the exhuast sooner or could the oil that coated my exhaust when the supercharger seal blew have adversely effected it?
I WANT MY BADA$$ SOUND BACK! Help?

I assume you have old exhaust since I dont see why toyota would swap that out.
Couple things that can collect oil is your cat and all resonators (including your muffler) ultimately changing the airflow inside of them. Causing different sound.
When you hit higher RPMs the pressure in the exhaust builds up givving you a little bit of burble.
Good luck getting inside of them in cleaning them out.
Ebay the exhaust and buy a new one. IMHO
