Default Exhausts that don't sound like weed-whackers?

I've just made the transition from a 02 WRX Sportwagon to a 05 TC (performance-wise, a bit of a downgrade. Interior-wise, definite upgrade). While I didn't put any money into the WRX, I did attend a lot of meets, and realized that it was pretty hard to remove the nice boxer rumble from a WRX with just say a turboback exhaust. Now, I understand that turbocharged boxer 4's and inline NA 4's are two different animals, but is it possible to toe the line between non-stock and full-on slammed Civic fart can?

this may sound obsurd but I drove my friends civic hatchback yesterday. after driving it i was very impressed with the muffler that was on it. it was very deep and not raspy at all. i asked him what it was and he said it was one of those cheap mufflers you can get on ebay for $9.99. I was shocked. this thing was a 70 HP civic CX. Same goes for my teg. I have a $35 resonator-looking muffler that a shop installed and it sound better than half of the exhaust out there. i didnt remove my resonator tho, so maybe that helps too.

most of that rasp is caused by the silencers that a lotta civics forget to remove off theyre 10$ mufflers, tried it out on my friends rsx-s, he got his exhuast done by a 200$ chopshop who gave him a Forza Tuning exhaust, SOUNDS AMAZING!!!especially in vtech omg, so yea NO SILENCERS!!!!

Dude. I have a custom magnaflow exhaust.
Sounds just like a WRX. Has that rumble you are talking about.
I friggen love it, everyone says it sounds just like a WRX.
I have 2.5" piping form the stock header back, eliminating the 2nd cat and resonator.
I love it

To be honest with you, all the tC exhausts sound like weed-whackers after you take off the stock header.

Some are obviously worse than others. A lot of people like the HKS but I can't stand that JDM slant. I went with a PM magnaflow which sounds tolerable with a resonator. Thing I like about it is the stockish look.

I'm sorry, but this is really the only thing I hate about the tC. There are plenty of exhaust options available, but most sound like civics and none of them really "grumble."
