actually sorry to correct you and make you feel stupid A turboed TC (scionspeed stage II) is already faster than a STI. It runs 12.59 in the quartermile, just a bit faster than the STI or EVO8. Figure the manual TC $16,500 + $3500 turbo + $500 upgraded clutch = 20,500 bucks. Still about $14,500 cheaper than the STI and looks ALOT better. Yea i am aware that the STI can get 500hp with alot less work than the TC, but honestly most people dont want that kind of HP...

For the record I am at work so I cant really answer all of your questions at once but my car is rated to be at 240 or 250 HP I am pretty sure I am sitting at around 230 or more only because I have raced SRT-4's and beaten them by about a cars length. This is not to mention me coming from behind and getting around him as he floored it as soon as he saw me on his rear I had to punch it and pull to the left lane and I was passing him by the time I was in 4th gear reaching red line I was about half a car ahead and on fifth I had a whole car length on him. My current mods are T3/T4 Turbo Front mount intercooler 2 1/2 inch piping full custom exhaust set up I have the dc sports strut bar I have the trd sways and the tein S techs still running on stock internals and stock ecu I am waiting for a reflash to come out I am boosting between 4-6psi undetermined because I havent invested in a boost gauge. The shop tells me they default at 4 or 5 psi with their kits but last time I was there I had the guy hook up a pressure reader hose with gauge and he raised it to about 5 psi some what in the middle of 5 and 6.

True I am extremely happy with 250HP out of a 4 banger.

This warrenty crap is blown way out of proportion anyways.

People are gonna pay 4 grand (installed) for 40 hp because it won't "void their warrenty"? How many of them are later gonna add a CAI or smaller boost pully? Hell, at that point an aftermarket muffler could be used as an excuse to not honor a valid warenty. (Lower exaust restriction allows more or quicker boost due to a quicker/easier filling of the cumbustion chamber which allows the motor to run lean causing detonation which blew the motor.) haha. I know it sounds rediculous, but seriously the only time I've seen a thread on here with somebody making a powertrain claim under waranty is from a bent valve (overrevving) or that kid who was running nitrous. IE. The only people who've needed a warrenty are people who broke their own shlt.

and with catback, cold air, and headers (basic bolt on's), one should be able to nab mid 14's. Followed by a smaller SC pulley, raising the boost a few psi, low 14's. Followed by more aggressive cams, pulley set and test pipe, ~14 flat. Next is ECU upgrade with more aggressive fuel map and cam gears, and yep, we're in the high 13's.

This car CAN be fast. And it will be DAMN fun getting there.

Of course your warantee will be absolutely gone, but someone can easily take these mods off with if they need to go to a dealer. And I am sure there are a few things the dealership wouldnt even notice...like the ECU.

This guy knows what hes talking about. If you are going to mod your car make sure you have the money to do it right. I had to beg my wife to let me do this she wasnt to thrilled about it but I make more money than her so I made the final decision. My car runs friggin great and it runs hella rich I will take care of that when I get my ecu reporgrammed. I dont want a piggy back system I just want the program that turbonetics is currently working on. Good luck with the mods and better hope you know something about cars. I now have to do my own tune ups and install alot of my own mods since there are a little too many closed minded shops around me.

What's with the shouting man? Yeah it's 4 grand installed but show me a supercharger that isn't. Personally whatever I decide to do, turbo or supercharge, I'm not in it for the warranty. Most likely I will change the pulley to up the boost on it to say around 8psi, I'd just rather have a supercharger since they require less maintenance than a turbo setup.

40 hp for 4000 installed... hell na.. that is a waist of money....... now if they were talking about competing with the srt 4 and getting the tc to run around 230-235 whp with a SC then maybe worth purchasing.... but if you know how to handle a vehicle and take care of your car then there will be no problem going turbo...... id rather go turbo then SC anyday...

Lol, you can correct me, if I'm wrong say so. It's not a matter of making me look stupid, I'm not on here to thump my chest.

When Iw as comparing a turbocharged tc to an STI, I was referring to the Stage 1 kit But sure, we can use the stage two if you like. That $3500 option (not installed or shipped, btw, thats just parts) will make the car faster, but it isn't going to make it handle any better, and it doesn't put AWD on the car. And it still voids the warranty.
It'll beat the tc in straight line....but what about in a slalom? On an autocross track? on a race track? All of those numbers aren't availble for the tc with a stage 2. There is more to being fast that just straight line acceleration.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not knocking the kits, scionspeed, you, or anything else. I'm not even saying the sti is a better car/choice than the tC. I'm just saying that if I wanted an all out racer, I would have bought an Sti, cause it's really fast, reliable, has an intact warranty, and handles great, all from the factory. Can the tC be made to have all that? Yes. But you're spending a lot of money to do it, and in the end you're still voiding the warranty. And that's a *big* deal cause if you are running 14 psi, like the stage 2 is, and you run it hard, I'm guessing your motor isn't going to run for 60,000 miles. I could be very wrong on that part. I guess time will tell, when people with stage 2's get up there with the mileage. But *I'm* not going to be the one to risk it.

My point to my original post is that for people who want a decent amount of HP increase, without voiding the factory warranty are best served with the TRD supercharger. If a warranty is important to you, and you want a boatload of power, then the tC probably wasn't the best choice car. That's all I'm saying.

very tru about the sti story, i was in the same exact situation, comparing a wrx, sti, and rsx, how i settled for a tC im still tryin to figure it out, but so far i can handle the lil power, and im startin to accept the fact that i wont be needing a turboed awd waste of money, theres not too many places where u can rip one on LI, wit out a cop on ur ___

and back on topic, the SC really isnt worth it, ur better off giving ur car back and buyin an rsx-s, cuz they still gonna beat u even wit the sc, all they gotta do is minor work, then wat? 4g down the drain, so if ur gonna do it, drop 10 and do it the right way by goin 450whp wit a nice ballbaring turbo
