Default Fujita CAI- rubbing/buzzing issue

Hey all,

I installed a Fujita CAI over the weekend, Overall, I like it a lot, however there seems to be an odd fitment issue. To be honest, I didn't notice it at first, however another SL member who I've been talking to pointed it out as a problem on his install, and mine is the same. Where the 2nd part of the intake pipe goes through the hole in the fender, there is a metal tab with a flat, grey plastic philips-head screw. The intake pipe rests right up against it. After only a few days, I have a pretty deep scratch in my pipe there. I've also noticed a buzz around 3-3.5k rpm, which I think may be caused by the pipe rubbing against this metal tab.

As a quickie experiment, I stuffed a piece of sponge between the pipe and the tab to see if it would stay (which it did,) but the sponge seems to be compressed so flat that it isn't making a difference. Has anyone else with an '06 and a Fujita CAI noticed this? And if so, what was your fix? (I'm wondering if Doc Iso's fender panel may hold the intake tube away from this metal tab? Anyone know?)

Thanks

I'm guessing nobody else is having this problem chaos being besides you and I! IMO I think its just all the damn plastic around the filter cone that vibrates and buzzes at WOT, more so the inner fender I'd like to get rid of the buzzing and just have a nice clean CAI sound, but oh well!

Yeah I wasn't expecting the buzz sound, but I can live with it I'm going to work on the fitment (intake tube rubbing) problem though.

I know that's a solution. Does anyone have an updated link to his website? The old links are all broken.

Also, is there a more immediate fix? I only have a week left before college and I want to get this fixed before I leave.

Is there something I could get from Home Depot? I've tried duct tape on the edges of the metal but it seems to be wearing away... what about rubber weather stripping?

theres this thick foam type stuff you can get at autozone. tape it to where its rubbing the fender with 3 layers and you should be fine

^That's a good idea! Thanks a bunch. Is the adhesive on those things strong enough?

Also, do you know what they're called or where they would be located in autozone (which section or area)? I haven't had the need to go to one in awhile..

I did this for now:

I just lodged a piece of weather stripping with the adhesive side on the intake. Would this stay? It's working pretty well for now.. it's pretty thick.
