Default hard start, spark knock?

my tc is 7 months old for starters. iv had a spark knock twice now after the car wash(didn't spray engine). also now and then the car after setting over night or for several hours will not want to start. on some occasions iv had to crank for about 20 seconds and stop afraid of heating up the starter. its not setting a code and the dealership has yet to get me answers for this annoying issue. premium gas has been ran in the car since day one and all maintenance is kept up top notch. also at times i seem to have a pulsating sluggish lag on the engine when trying to accelerate at a good pace around 3rd gear. get back to me if you have this issue or a possible fix

Try running regular gas. It's what the manual asks for... and you get zero benefit for running the premium where it isn't needed. Except the satisfaction that your wallet is a little lighter.

^^ Agree try running regular gas, many people mistaken that premium gas is better but if car does not require it it's just a total waste imo. Good luck. I myself am bringing in my TC with 500 miles on it to dealer with a tranny/clutch issue.

seriously... i think i would of stopped putting premium gas in as soon as things started happening to my car.. plus if it called for premium it would of said put it instead of what it says.. which is to put regular....

My 1st post!

My car has had trouble starting 3 times since I got it in Sept. It's an 09 with 6000 miles... I've turned the key and it's taken about 15 seconds for it to finally start. I have no clue what this is? But I have noticed it's only happened when I have less than a 1/4 tank of gas...

Have you had it back to the dealer yet for them to check it out? Use that warranty man... it doesn't last forever.

^^^ Yes, I've had it back to the dealer many times since I bought it for various problems. They must think I'm a P.I.T.A. at this point. lol. But, as for the starting issue, they have no idea what it could be? No check engine light or anything, no codes, no leaks, nothing...

time to find another dealership, one that knows how to troubleshoot/diagnose!

three simple areas a car engine needs to work,
fuel - air - spark. Problem is in one of those, obviously.

Sounds like a possible ignition relay issue. I think I heard about a tsb (technical service bulletin) about a replacement of ignition relays. I bet that might be a good place to start, too bad your dealer is clueless, first step, get another dealership

When that happens, are you parked on an incline? When I have less than a quarter tank, the car will sometimes starve for fuel when going taking off uphill and when cornering. I've read it's a fuel pump pickup issue and part of the tC's design, so the easy fix is to always keep the tank at over 1/4 full.

change your plug, check air filter, and also take to dealer
