Default Help... Head removal questions.

I'm trying to remove the head to change the head gasket. What a pain in the butt. Is anyone familiar with this process? It looks like the timing chain cover has come off to unbolt the head. Is there a way around that? because that looks like a huge PITA with the motor in the car. I hadn't planned on dropping the motor Any help is appreciated.

The head gasket blew, not sure why cause I don't beat up on the car. But yeah, I started to remove the head, got the cams out already, but kinda got stuck when I saw that the head can't be removed without the chain cover coming off. I think it can be done but there is hardly any room over there. I didn't want to pay the 1800$ to fix it. At that price, I'll buy a replacement motor.

I can't see there being a why around it, the timing chain cover must come off. Thats the beauty of over head cams. I just tore my apart on a stand and couldn't see it being done in the engine bay.

You're in for a lot of fun.

Yeah, I hear ya. I think it may be possible to take it off in the car, but it would definitely not be easy.
