Default Help with leaking from passenger side axle

I did a clutch install this weekend and though it was a PITA, got it done. My only problem was when I got everything back together and filled it back up with manual transmission fluid, there was a slow drip from where the passenger side intermediate shaft goes into the transmission. I managed to get it seated better to make it a very slow drip and figured that the drive home would help seat it 100%. Well, this morning, I saw a large puddle out in the garage.

Is there a trick to seating that axle or what is the proper way to get it back in place?

On pass side the only thing that holds it in place is the bracket where it bolts up to the back of the block. When you tightened the bolts down did it snug up all the way or is there a gap between the bracket on the motor and the bracket on the cv axle?

No, there is no gap between the bracket and the block. I think I may have caught the transmission axle seal when removing or installing the axle. I ordered a new seal so I'll see if that fixes the problem tomorrow.

it probably has a nicked seal,if you cannot see anything not in the correct place, then it is the seal.

My new seal should be at the Toyota dealership now. Picking it up after work and going to try to install it between work and my hockey game tonight. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that that will fix the problem.

Well, I got the new seal yesterday and got the axle and old seal pulled to replace. When I was putting the new seal in, I didn't realize that there wasn't a back lip so the seal went into the transmission. In pulling it back out, I tore a bit of the outer edge of the seal and it deformed slightly. I was not happy.

I hoped it would still work so after a few more tries, I finally got it in. Of course, it leaked worse than the first one. I had some sealant left from when I took off my oil pan and had to seal it back up. I put some of the sealant on my finger and rubbed it around the outside edge of the seal to take care of any leaks around the peremeter. It made a mess, but seemed to stick ok. I let it sit overnight and waited to pour the oil back in until I left for work this morning.

It is too soon to tell and I'll check after I get off work, but I didn't see any dripping when I parked. My new seal will be here Friday so this is just a temporary fix, but hopefully, it will get me by.
