HELP quick pulley question!! i wanna order by tonight
i want to get the full nst pulley kit but they are out of stock right now, my question is if i get the nst underdrive 20% crank pulley do i have to get the other 2 (wp & alt) to accomodate that?? what does that percentage mean anyway?? is it ok to just run the nst crank only (i know i would have to get a new belt for it too)?? if not then i might just have to get the agency power since its OEM size and i dont wanna wait for the special order on the CR-lite by nst......thanks
I think the percentage is the weight compared to the stock pulley, meaning that the nst pulley is 20% the weight of stock, but I'm not sure.
From what I have heard, the zpi crank pulley is the best due to design. It has gone through more engineering and R&D than the other pulleys to make sure that it will not mess up your engine. You also don't have to get a new belt because it is the same size as stock. My recommendation is, get the zpi crank pulley, and, if you want to use them, run the water pump and alternator pulleys.

NST makes 2 crank pulleys
one that is 20% smaller and one that is just lite weight
the 20% smaller pulley requires a new belt, and the lite weight doesnt, its that easy
If you get a turbo u can use the smaller pulley, if u go S/C u must use the lite weight pulley.
so once again:
lite weight pulley = OEM belt
smallet pulley = New Belt
ill put it this way, i have the AP pulley, and NST pulley kit for alt. and water pump, w/ an OEM belt, works fine
so according to NST and everywhere else, changing the crank pulley frees up HP, its a light weight pulley so it allows the crank to spin faster, thus freeing up HP

arent you s/c'd? if you are, then you really shouldnt go with the 20% underdrive crank because it will cause you to lose some power. NST's CR-lite pulleys are no longer special order only, they will have them in stock once they finish re-stocking everything.
no im not s/c, im all NA but soon enough when im done w/ show mods ill boost it w/ a turbo, so far i have the AP Pulley, and the NST water pump, and alt. kit w/ a stock belt, never have problems
i would recommend the NST pulley if your still thinking about buying pulley. whoever heard that ZPI's pulley is better, heard wrong. NST pulley's are top notch and you'll never have a problem with them if installed correctly.
