With resonators the rasp is still there just now its at a level that is not as noticable. Exhaust sounds better when it is warmed up and I still can hear some rasp when the exhaust is cold. Also I have noticed with my setup that the effectiveness of the resonators has decreased over time.

One thing to learn about resonators is are you buying a resonator or a glasspack..........glasspacks burn out over time and the noise increases.....a resonator is a chamber that has metal prongs in it from end to end that bounce the soundwaves and delete the volume without changing to much flow......over time a good resonator will not change in sound volume.

most shops sell you glasspack resonators, also know as cherry bombs they work for a while then the fiberglass burns out and they are junk.

Thrush makes the only real decent glasspack.........Aero 25 makes a good cannister style resonator that uses the fiberglass and the prongs........

Large resonators are not always best either,I used 2 12" resonators,no glass in side, just pronged chambers that swallow the sound and no change in exhasut sound since I put them in over 10000miles ago.

BZinn1, what brand of resonators did you use? I currently have a 18" and 22" magnaflow resonators installed on my exhaust.

I have 2 thrush resonators.....they are 12" with 2 inch pipe on each one.......they have been installed backwards so the prongs in them catch more soundwaves, old hotrod trick to get volume down............honestly I like magnaflows better but could not afford them, the thrush were about $20 each, the shop I went to was ahotrod shop,so they were not sure what would work on import......they put them on the stock pipe with high flow cat,cat was generic pass through screened cat, good ones are ceramic inside, magnaflow has the ceramic ones.

even with the HKS can the exhaust has almost no rasp till I am way up in the 4500-5200 range of rpms.....low rpms i have a burble like the WRX has with a GReddy can on it.........

The best part is downshifting the exhaust does not get loud,it stays clean sounding on same tones........my GReddy can just got loud and droning.......was fun for a while then got old.

Remember though went from TRD can to GReddy can,to Apexi can to HKS can and finally found one I love, the Apexi sounded incredable but with the resonators was really quiet unless you were gettign on it........the TRD was horrid........the GReddy was loud and had too much droning.......the HKS has a wonderful sound that makes you wnat to drive car daily just to hear it.....lol
