Default Injen cai BIG PROBLEM!

so, Today I was changing the trany oil, and I noticed my left fender had a little dent. I look inside where the cai goes to the botton , and i see the pipe hitting the fender. I decide too take the second pipe of the cai and i see that my fender got burned on the inside. tried to align the pipe but it wouldent align, so, I just toke it off

Has enybody had this problem before?

I can't see anything in that picture. Srsly.

I don't think I even understand what you're talking about though. If there's a dent and "burning" I don't think it would be from your CAI. Mostly b/c of the "cold" part...

Unless you somehow REALLY messed up the install and it was causing problems with it rubbing on the fender?

You might be in need of one of these.

but, I don't think that would help with the cai being too close to the fender, and it would probably keep burning on the inside of the fender.

If it's rubbing on the inside of the fender (creating heat/friction - which leads to the burning?) then it's installed poorly and should be adjusted. It may need to sit down on the throttle body more or the connection by the MAF would need to be adjusted so the two pipes are touching or very close together.

Basically the second pipe should not be sticking out far enough to rub the fender if it's properly installed.

x2 Just readjust those two pipes and you should be good to go. If not maybe stick some strong doublesided tape where the pipe will be touching the fender to keep it from rubbing and "burning" the fender.

It isnt getting hot enough to burn anything. You are seeing the marks from it rubbing.

Today I tried to align the pipes and I couldn't. When i sat the 2nd pipe on the rubber mount thing. It wouldn't align with the other pipe, and when i did get the pipes to align it would still hit the fender.
so, now im thinking something is wrong with the intake? or im just dumb and can't align it.

I made a little braket to get it to align, but now the filter is pushing the fender liner( i think that's what is called)

The blue circle is where the rubber mout goes, and the red circle is the braket i made, so that the curb on the pipe wouldn't hit the fender.

Help please. How do I align it?

Are you sure this is an Injen CAI? Not only can I still not tell what I'm looking at, that doesn't even look like an Injen - unless this is a polished one with a blue hydroshield??

sorry for the crappy pictures. That's the 2nd pipe on the mount, and yes it is polished and i have the hydroshield on the filter.

did you put in the bottom stabalizer. i had a injen cai in fine and worked witout hitch. you might wanna loosen all the clamps and then put it wher you want it then tighten them.

sounds like you may have tightened them as you went but what do i know

when i was installing my Injen CAI i noticed the same problem with it hittin the fender on the inside....i tried to adjust everything best i could but it was still very close so i put a bubble wrap insulation in there to keep it from rattling and causing damage to the fender, kinda glad i did hearing that yours made a visible dent on the outside

check this out- an email from injen when asked about the breakage problem and the denting of the fender.
The vibra mount is made of rubber and is designed to absorb some vibration. However, if tighten too much, the rubber becomes too compressed, defeating the purpose because it isn't able to dampen any vibration. If you do decide to purchase an air intake system, make sure you don't tighten the virbra mount too tight. Best regards.
