Default Injen CAI problems

I know there has been a few posts on Injen CAI problems, but i havent seen one that is like mine. So I installed it and everything went pretty smoothly.... I start it up and I get the CEL and the motor is bogging all up and down, sometimes not even starting. So I reset the ECU by disconnecting the - end of the battery, and still no change. I can rev the motor up as high as I want as long as I accellerate very slowly. The second I give it a decent amount of gas, it dies. So I pretty much cant really go anywhere with the car because I couldnt accellerate fast enough to get onto a highway. When I do accellerate slowly I smell something weird, maybe the oil on the filter. Anybody got any ideas? Plus my windows wont go on auto, and I cant control the passenger side from the drivers side. Id appreciate any kind of help.

Have you gone back and double checked all your sensors, Make sure you didnt knock something loose.

sup man i had the same problem with mine it turned out that my maf sensor was bad. the only solution to the problem was to put everything back to stock make it look all nice and normal and take it to the service center. I dropped it off there and they found the problem which i already knew it was the sensor and changed it in about 30 mins. I reinstalled everything properly and it works fine. You have to be extra careful with those sensors extremely sensitive. and that little maf sensor costs about 400 bucks.

NEVER EVER REV THE CAR ON A FIRST STARTUP AND ALWAYS RESET THE ECU AFTER ANY INSTAL OF ANFTERMARKET PART.... i cant stress that enough sometimes to people..

that might not be your problem but for others reading this please please after installing a header or intake etc.. always diconnect your battery for min 5 minutes so the ecu can reset itself. after done installing connect the ecu and start the car and let it idle for 10-15 minutes before reving or driving. the ecu needs to learn WTF is going on now and needs a few minutes to correct itself.

reset you ecu one more time and let your car idle..if anything put everything back to stock and take it to the dealer so they can look at it. and replace anything that might be damaged like the MAF. once thats done just reinstall the CAI and follow what i said. you should be fine once thats done.

hope that helps

I have two questions, what is MAF and when resetting ECU do you disconnect both battery connects or just ground?

Maf = the electrical do-hickey looking thing that goes through the tubing. ECU reset = just the negative

1) Your problem sounds like either a vaccum leak or a bad MAF sensor. Check to see that you didn't install the MAF sensor backwards. Check to see that the vacuum switching valve (the plastic thing with the tubes going into it) is intact, hooked up, and on the intake.

2) The windows and sunroof need to be reset. To reset them after disconnecting your battery, roll them all the way down, and hold for 2 seconds. Roll up, and hold for 2 seconds. Do the driver first, then walk over to the passenger side, and do that one. At that point, they'll work as usual.

Reset the sunroof as well. Press the button until open fully, then hold for a few seconds. Close fully, hold for a few seconds.

3) If your engine still sucks, the MAF is probably shot. Borrow an OBDII scanner from autozone and tell me what the code is... I can help you then.

^^the window trick of holding didnt work for me. i just drove around for bout 5-10 min, and the light on the window switches started flashing and the went solid and started to work.

i remember when i put on my ingen i had to have someone hold the maf down while i screwed the crap outa those 2 screws cuz it looked it, but wasnt down all the way.
also make sure that the hose right above the throttle body isnt secured over the hose's heat cover, and its actually holding down the hose itself. it can play tricks on you.

if you have already done all of this..easy way of checking to see if MAF is bad:
install stock box again...
if its still crap then i would say your MAF is bad
if its fine then install injen again but this time use some kind of sealant around the MAF to make sure its not leaking.
