Default Injen intake/TRD Intake

I've been looking around for an intake to matchup with the trd exahst and i really cannot decide between injen and TRd. Injen is obviously cheaper, but tRD seems to be better quality and it also comes with a bypass valve (which I have no idea what it is there for...) does that mean if i get injen, I'll have to get a bypass valve from aem or something like that? it seems like the place where the filter is is pretty sealed so that's less worrying for the hydrolock problem.
i can't find many clips with injen CAI + trd exahst and/or trd CAI+exahst...anywhere i cant find them?

just thorwing my questions out there.

A bypass valve is intended to lower the risk of hydrolock (sucking water into your engine). Unless you plan on driving through lakes, the bypass valve is not required. Of course, it won't hurt but it's certainly not completely necessary.

You can get both intakes with a bypass valve, but they both do the same thing. On the TRD, you are paying for the name and about 2whp-maybe.

Did you read the dyno shootout? Unless someone has owned both, you're just going to get "I bought X and I like it" posts. Rarely will someone purchase X, and then outright say it sucks, having nothing to compare it to.

Read the dyno thread. Make your own informed decision.

Also with the best (or 2nd best) AFR tracking. The dyno shoot is a sticky in the Powertrain forum.

Don't have one, but when I picked up my tC at the dealship, one of the salesmen cranked over his Injen'd tC. Sounded EVIL, but in a good way.

you should definetly install it yourself, save even more money....and there's no better satisfaction then after installing it, turning it on, and revving.....sounds so good!

It is so worth installing yourself. That was my first engine mod ever, and the first one I have ever done by myself. Read the DIYs and then go do it, it's really hard to screw it up, just takes patience to get the cold air extension tube in. My best tip is to go from the fender lining up into the bay with the tube and not the other way. Also, this is really really important, make sure you tape the tube or cover it up where you will be sliding it up otherwise it will get scratched to hell.

I did it by myself, and I thought it was easy. It would make it easier to get that extension in with another friend though.
