I know I have heard mentioned aroud the forums of some aftermarket shifters not fitting well because the pivot ball was the wrong size. I am not sure if Megan builds them any better or if they use the stock shifter. Docs is the stock shifter, so it fits perfectly every time and you know it is made of the same strong material as OEM.

People can probably thank Doc for the prices being so low as well. If I recall correctly all other short shifters were quite a bit higher until he came out with a nicely priced version Seems that since then the others have gone down. But, I really didnt study all the other options. I am more prone to trust a part from someone I have interacted with, and know how they build them. I also am more prone to supporting small businesses, especially those born straight out of our cars market, if they build quality products.

counter weighted shiftknob takes all the extra effort away
ya i know but thats more money, doesn't make enough difference to me. I don't race much anymore so even less incentive. And when my 3rd gear died the dealer tried their best to blame it on the short shifter so i will just do without one for now. Thats my opinion.
yeah understandable, i just cant stand a long shift i feel like im driving a jeep

If you want the best shift feel, dont go anywhere other than the Doc's. By far the best you can buy, no matter what anyone says. Luckily, he leaves it as cheap as he does, for the product that he creates, it should be much more expensive.
