intercooler w/o turbo

You could but it makes no sense, If you want the look of a FMIC they sell some CAI's that mount in the front and look like FMIC's

thers no need to laugh at that question, im a noob to turbos and ive thought the same thing. though the restrictveness of basically adding another set of fins in front of a stock intake makes sense to restrict air flow...

You are right that there is no hp potential though
An intercooler goes with a turbo. If you are going to get one for performance, like the everyone else said, don't expect any gains. However, if you want it for looks, thats the same as stuffing a banana in your pants and going to the beach...don't be a poser

yah like evryone else said they do make a universal fmic and you can custom make piping to the throttle body my buddy did it on his r34 sentra..looked good and gave a decent hp gain...duma they do amke a chrome radiator for the tc im thinking of getting it...
So for all the jerkass responses in this thread.........I'll add one that actually gives you some information.
You CAN use an intercooler on a non-turbo car. You can also make an intake that is so long it sucks air from your trunk. Neither, however, is a good idea, and will not provide you with any benefits.
The purpose of an intercooler is to help prevent predetonation (if you don't know what this is, it is when the air/fuel mixture is so hot and pressurized, it combusts spontaneously, before being ignited by the spark plug........which is very damaging to an engine). You are at risk for predetonation with a turbo because of the heat and pressure generated by a turbo. An intercooler cools the air coming from the turbo, making predetonation less likely.
Without a turbo, you won't be having any problems with predetonation to worry about.......unless there is something wrong with your car. An intercooler, therefore, will serve you no purpose.
It will, most likely, be detrimental to performance. An intercooler is an impediment to airflow (additional pipe, and bends for the air to go through). The idea is that the boost provided by a turbo outweighs the impediment to airflow.......and the cooling effect of the intercooler makes it possible to run higher boost without predetonation, and thus negate the impedement even further. A higher quality intercooler will probably flow better than a lower quality one, but the fact remains that it is an unneccessary peice of equipment for a naturally aspirated vehicle. I'm willing to look at any evidence that proves me wrong on that.........but until I see it.................that will remain my opinion on the matter.
If you want it just for looks........then mount it without hooking it up to your intake. Everyone else's opinions aside, if that's what you want..........feel free to do what you wish with your money and your car. But, I'd simply warn not to expect many accolades when people realize you have an intercooler just for looks.
