Default I've got a quick/cheap/easy way to rememdy CAI vibrations

For those of you that are hearing a rattle in the upper part of your front fender after installing a cold air intake here is my quick fix for it. As long as you know your mounting brackets are not broken, your intake is probably rattling on the inner fender where the pipe goes through that little space that is a pain in the ___ to get the pipe to go through.

Now, with my Injen intake they included a 12 inch piece of material that was supposed to fit around the edges of that hole to protect, but i found this to be a piece of crap that didn't fit/work well even after trimming it up.

So, I installed the intake without it, and it rattled and vibrated like crazy when on the throttle or hitting bumps. I went to local auto parts store and bought the smallest possible roll of window seal gasket that they had. The store had rolls that were used for different applications, but the stuff I bought was flat. What it is is this soft foamy/rubbery stuff about an inch wide and one side of it has a sticky backing on it. All I did was cut two small pieces and peeled the rubber backing off, and placed them on the top and bottom parts of the intake pipe that was making contact with the inner fender causing the vibration.

I have not had any more vibration/rattles and it was 60 seconds of my time to put these little pieces of stuff on. The nice thing is you don't have to take apart the intake or anything at all. The only downside I figure is if/when you take the intake off you have those two pieces stuck to it, but I'm sure you could peel them off and remove the residual 'stickiness' with some cleaner if you want to sell your intake.

Thats my quick little fix for the intake vibration. If nothing else you could put them on as a temporary fix so you don't put a hole or dent in your pipe if you've got other plans for your engine. However, it seems like it is an easy permanent fix as well.

I hope it helps someone at some point, and of course if this is going to ruin something or make my car fall to pieces please tell me ASAP so I can fix it the expensive way!

you can also just use double sided tape on both sides and you wont hear it vibrate/rub to the fender.

I also have an 07 Injen CAI with the Doc I's panel and they don't fit either. Was just installing it last night and it was not fitting. I have the panel just sitting around the CAI for now until I get a better fix.

Wonder if the the 07 Injen intake (different than the 05-06 model) would require a different design from Doc I. Just a thought.

I also bought one and it didn't fit right either, after a couple of months the bolts vibrated out and it wouldn't stay in place. I ended up chucking it.

I think it would be better to use insulation wrap. keeps air cooler and keeps it from rattling ya? Problem is it'll look crappy.

same problem with the doc I intake insert for the Injen CAI. it sat too far forward. I had a pain in the rear of a time getting it to the fender from the middle joint in the pipes by the MAF. The only way for me to maneuver it in better would be to move the fuse box,.... or to put it on when i originally installed the CAI making getting that pipe through even more annoying.

The best way to do this is to just get about a foot of vacuum hose at the parts store, cut a straight line down it and wrap it around the innner fender, it is easy and works perfect.

No need for the window sealer or the doc I plate.

i did try a lot of thngs like that.. wrapped around the intake with sponge.. then i used some rubber., etc.. but the cai was moving too much so the bracket is broken again.. plus everything was ripped apart where it was rubbing with something.. so i ordered that dr. isotops fender mount panel.. arrived today.. installed, and its awesome. i had to remove my inner line fender because , i had to take apart my cai but like this it was really easy to install the fender panel.. it moves just a little so i went to a muffler shop to have them re-weld the bracket... but im not sure if its good if the cai cant moe too much now its pretty massive.. i hope it wont brake or crack...

btw there should be bracket above the filter???????????

just above the filter there is a hole for a bolt....... but i have no bracket there... do i missing something?
