Default K&N drop in air filter worth it?

is there any one with this. i was thinking about going with the TRD but i just cant see myself paying 70 bucks for a filter. i found a a and n one for 40 bucks. u guys think its a good deal. and trust me if i could i would def get the CAI but my dad threatens to sell the tC if i dare mod it. and he checks too. so i think this will be a good alternative to the cai in my case. let me kno what u guys think.

worth it in the sense that its washable and re-usable. don't count on being too fast too furious with just that 'mod' tho.

I have thE Injen CAI in short ram setup, do you notice any difference with the K&N CAI? Any bogging in the lower gears? I hear the difference is very noticeable.

I feel a big difference in pickup when I'm below the 3k rpm mark. My car feels slower than usual, but it just might be in my head. I dont know this for a fact. This correlates to the dyno chart though, which shows a decrease in hp at lower rpm's due to decrease in back pressure. Above 3k rpm, it feels as though my car is faster, which also correlates with the dyno chart. The way I figure, the only time I need the extra hp is when I'm on the throttle, in which case I'll be above 3k rpm. Hopefully the CAI will help me save some gas aswell. As far as the bogging difference between SRI and CAI in low gears, I dont think that there is much difference. The only benefit that the CAI has over the SRI is at lower speeds (below 30 mph) the CAI is providing colder air to the engine. As soon as you go faster, both setup's are drawing the same temperature air.

I know i performed the Temperature tests om my filter. I guess im going to try setting it up in CAI format for a few days just to see how it performs. And thanks for your input .

I remembered reading those air temp tests, I just forgot who it was who made the post. Write an update between the differences you feel between the SRI and the CAI. I would be interested in hearing what you think.

I would get a header, and have the money. I am hesitent to get one because of the horror raspy stories that I've been hearing. As soon as a good H/E combo comes out that I like, I'm all over it.

yea i think im going to wait it out and see if my dad will let me mod it, thats how it was with my old car. ill probley just go with the k and n CAI. i hope i dont get bit by the bug again like i did with my last car, i told myself "only an intake" and i ended up with a header, hi flow cat, catback, strut bars, plug wires, and a ____ load of useless crap. i think in the long run its ok to mod a car since u will be driving it for a while but in the short run not worth it. im also lookin for a project car, that i can mod, im lookin for a 90-93 accord to turbo or swap so we will c how that goes. thanks guys for the input.
