Default k&N intake cover?!

hey guys, just installed my k&n intake. have a question about the cover they include. Should it be put on or not? Does it take away from the amount of air that can enter the fliter? Thx

i dunno i left it off because you really dont need if you notice your filter is pretty well covered, but if your worried about little water splashes then put it on and it should take away to much but it is another screen so it might take away some put it on and see how it feels on and then take it off

From K&N's website: "The K&N PreCharger filter wrap is a specially designed to extend the service interval of your K&N Filtercharger filter when used in very dusty conditions. They are made from durable polyester material containing a uniform weave. The PreCharger will stop small dirt particles with minimal restriction to the airflow of the filter."

it doesn't affect airflow.

Place is up to your mouth and try to breath through it... that will answer your question.

I put it on simply because taking the wheel off to clean the filter would SUCK. I wanted to do that as little as possible.

when the engine starts sucking air, hold ur hand over the hole, it'll suck ur arm off. that little thing isn't goint to do anything. also if u remove the black bottom peices from the front bumper and drive in rain... nothing will stop it from sucking in water.. i know i took mine off and saw how wet the pipe was.. i shortend my k&N into a short ram intake now.. it's louder.. cleaer.. better i think. i say if u leave the bottom peice on the bumper on, + that water gauge thing from k&n u'll stop water from going in.. other then that... u'll suck in some kinda water.. when it rains of course.. for some reason it's been raining on and off in california.. we never get rain

if you're worried about hydro lock'n your engine then get yourself an AEM bypass valve for your intake.

I put my own cause I currently don't have a wheel well skirt on that side cause of a little accident I had. I know it's keeping it cleaner from splash, than again all the puddles I drive throught are on the other side, so it's not realy water. It's just anouther added to the CAI to keep it clean. Though I was wondering if how you clean it. I realy haven't seen any methoed to do so. Than again I need to replace my bumper and the skirt soon.
